I've enjoyed the game so far and started a campaign (a few times actually). Just seems to me there is too much constant movement of AI forces and way too many battles. Just doesn't to have the right Napoleonic feel to me. Things just seem too fluid.

It is 1796 05 02 for example and there have already been 10 engagements and 8 battles. I have initiated some of those of course as the French but the AI never stops attacking something.

Units in general seem more robust then maybe they really were to me also. Stacks can go through numerous battles turn after turn and readiness and all gets lowered but the fight still goes on longer then really seems possible.

None of this is with Tactical battles.

Just me?

I agree completely with this evaluation.

Moreover I would add that some of the campaigns I played were so (unhistorically!) easy to win (e.g. the Lodi Campaign) for the Austrian human player against the French AI, that I tried an experiment: in a game I neither moved any of my units nor pushed any button (thus renouncing at all replacements or expenditure of influence points) for ALL game turns; in spite of this TOTAL strategical immobility I could cash a good win, namely 1533 victory points against 1088. Not very amusing indeed.

Are you playing with the realistic ruleset? If not, then you should. Fatigue and cohesion recovery is reduced in this mode.

Yes sir and I don't play any tactical battles either. Honestly I find units way to robust for this period. It has more of a modern feel to me versus Napoleonic with the high paced movement and relentless combat. Seems there should be a lot more quiet periods instead the combat is constant turn after turn.

The AI is very aggresive which is usually a good thing but in this case I feel it is not. And as the human player you can attack again and again with relatively little penalty for the time period.

My opinion and experience anyway. I really like the potential and subject for the game but this part just does not feel right at all to me.

I think the new fatigue recovery make a difference. Cohesion, not so much. My experience from playing about 20 turns is that after some marching and max two battles in a row my troops needs to rest if they are to be of any use.
Maybe if they stay in the same hex they are able to fight to many battles. I play almost every battle.
