No, there is no pro bowl or all star game feature.

I'm kicking around about getting this game however my main interest in football is only college. Is there a way to play college football, or is it 100% professional; having to pay the players?

Some gamers use it to play college football. I know you can download almost all of the college uniforms. The game has no salary system currently. Not sure how folkes handle the fact that players stick around longer than 4 years. Also, there are a few rules that are pro-style. But, I think college football is doable to a respectable degree.

You can definately simulate college ball on the field.
The game includes the US Amateur field, with the wider apart lines down the center of the field. There is already a ton of college uniforms and field art available for download. I know for sure there are a couple guys working on these, as well as playbooks and I think rosters also.
Of course, if you choose, you can do it all yourself.
The game has no license, so players are always fictional, unless you edit in the real ones.

As far as rosters, and how things work off the field, there is a level you can set that allows players to only play 4 seasons.
So you will see turnover like you would in college.

There isnt any sort of salary cap system in the game currently. Regardless of the level you play or the rules you use, each season you have a basic draft, in order of teams finish. So, you cant really simulate recruiting, nor can you simulate contract negotiations for pros. Prior to each new season, you just have a standard draft.

In closing, I would say if you want a simulation of the College football experience, there are games that do that near perfect.
But, Max will allow you to experience, to some extent, any level of football you want.

Hope I was helpful :-)
Any further info you might want, feel free to ask away.

Gary,

Above you stated;

"I would say if you want a simulation of the College football experience, there are games that do that near perfect".

What other games are there?

How do they compare to Max?

Thanks

I do own Pursim Baseball.

Is Maximum-Football 2.0 anything close to the management levels in pursim?

If you play at high school or college, do you "draft" players?

What options do you have to "lure" players to commit to your team?

Can you have transfer players?

Well, the 'other' games im thinking of are the NCAA ones from EA. I think 07 is not available on PC. Maybe previous years are, not sure. As for any of the big titles comparing to Max, its all about what you expect and want from the game. The big name titles like the NCAA and Maddens are games designed around one license, either College or the NFL. All of the developers resources, from money to man-hours went into making the games a simulation of either the NCAA or the NFL. At least to a certain degree, down to the last detail.
Maximum Football is better referred to as a 'Football Construction set'. The focus in Max is geared more towards the on field part, as opposed to the GM side.

The way it works in Max is generally the same, regardless of what rules or setup you use. There isnt necessarily a college or pro mode in Max. The game pretty much flows the same way:
Create League
Hold a draft
Run training camp
Play games

You can change the rules and such around when you create your league to be similar to the US, CFL, or indoor pro game. Or you can make it be similar to college ball. Or you can go crazy and mix and match.

The draft is just that, a draft. Regardless of what you set your league up to be like, you will either have a draft, or skip the draft and let the AI fill the teams, your choice.
When you begin the draft, whether its the first ever draft or the yearly draft, you are presented with a pool of players to draft from. Teams draft in alphabetical order the very first season, then order of finish each season after.
There are no contracts or recruiting or anything. Each team, either AI controlled or human, just pics from the available players each round.

Max doesnt really have the features like OOTP or Puresim. Next version hopefully, but not this one.

Many feel that Bowl Bound is a great college game. The difference from Max is that its a text based game. You can find it by doing a web search for Bowl Bound by Greydog Software.

Hi and welcome.

You probably want to look at the games website. http://www.maximum-football.com It has screen shots and an FAQ.

You can play the game in arcade mode where you control most of the action. You can play it in coaching mode where you just call the plays. Or you can let the computer play itself (which surprisingly a lot of people do).

The game will work overseas but your computer needs to be set up for North American Regional Settings. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1573226

thanks
David

Hi steve81,

FYI I've not had a problem leaving my regional settings on UK; we use the"." as a decimal separator, the same as the US. I've not noticed any problems with time/date either. Not sure where they would be used (DOB in database?).

Look for College Uniforms on FBMAX.

1. Go to FBMAX.com .

2. Click on Unsorted files. It will take you to a separate page.

3. On that page, see Uniforms, and click on it to see many of the college uniforms pop up mixed with other uniforms.

I did most of the uniforms on that page. At the moment, I’m making Division 2 uniforms, which there are, I believe, 122 teams.

Hey DONMVP,

There is no "Unsorted" to click on. Can you double check it for us?

Thanks

Go to
http://www.fbmax.com/

At the top of the page under the big word FBMAX.COM is a black strip with links in it, click on 'unsorted files'

...then click on 'uniforms'

Just like garrysorrell mentioned , look on that black strip . then click .Should take you to another page .Where you`ll see uniforns mention click on that .You`ll see a lot of uniforms not sorted yet by leagues and such . Sorry for confusion . So automatic , clicking here and there , That i don`t notice little things on page . Can`t wait to finish the new stuff doing .So i can try all the different play books and such.
