G'day,

Just to set my mind at ease - will there be any difference in data content between the downloadable and boxed versions of the game? For instance, will the CD in the boxed version come with additional maps, battlesets, etc.?

(The read-between-the-lines question is: Will I miss out on any data by getting the downloadable version over the boxed version?)

Cheers!

Well you get a dvd case and a printed manual......thats cool right!!!

But i have never known matrix to put additional content in boxed versions. I do not think this case is any different.

You could probably make your own "boxed version" (or something close to it) for cheaper than the difference anyway.

You can burn the download onto a disc (don't bother with the "2 year download" unless you have no spare storage at all), it will easily fit onto even a CDR, let alone a DVD anyway.

You could probably print/bind the manual off cheap as well if you really needed it.

Thanks everyone - I appreciate your replies. Think I'll just jump in and buy the downloaded version.

I've been following this game since I was first given a copy of the first Harpoon (for DOS) years ago... this thing's as addictive as anything you can name!

From a game perspective there won't be anything on the CD that you cannot get via download.

Thanks Tony. I've happily smashing up millions of dollars of taxpayers' money right now, and it's as good as I remember it to have been!

I've just read your thread, 'The People behind HCE,' and I wanted to throw in my sincere thanks for all the work all of you have put into maintaining and updating the game. I had no idea that this was a free time enterprise!

Also my gratitude for the new version - I love it, and I love having a brilliant, factual, carefully-constructed military simulator to drive. It's bloody fun, too...

If anything crops up, you can rest assured I'll post detailed bug reports. Cheers!

Well, I don't want to mislead people, the Help\About screen will throw a number of more names in the pot, going forward 'The People behind HCE' is appropriate.
