So I get a multiple axis Backfire strike on my carrier. The dreaded AS-4s are on their way in and what do the bombers do? They follow the missiles in! Why don't they release their payload and high tail it for home? They're meat on the table for my fighters doing this.

Because they are drop dead stupid?� Its a recurring bug that as you've noted is currently active.� The AI needs to be smarter and it just isn't yet.�

Mind you, adding to the clutter of an inbound attack isn't that bad a move - and they're smarter being behind the missiles than arriving in front of them.
