My computer crashed and I have to reintsall my copy of the game. I went to the Download area and all that is showing are patches or updates. Where can I get my orginal version to reinstall? I have my serial number and registered the product.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure about this, but I believe I've seen people mentioning a service called findmyorder.com. That might be the solution.

yep, that's it. You can go to the general tech forum and search for "find my order" and it should come up.

Now I remember where I ran into this. I HAD a problem. Just couldn't find the right CC I used to order another matrix tile. I found a back up somewhere and solved my own problem. Hope this helps.

This link provides 2 different ways to find your order, One is with the order number, which probably got lost in your computer crash, if you had saved it all, the second way is via email address and the last few digits of the credit card used to order the game. Hopefully, that hasn't changed in the interim. Might I suggest, that you "burn" a copy of the game on "CD" or "DVD" if you can, and accompany it with a simple text file that has the order number, and serial number in it. Works for me with all my download games, and saves a lot of grief.

Yup, www.findmyorder.com is the place to go to get a link to re-download. Please backup your downloaded copy in the future, it's the safest way to be sure you won't lose it permanently.

I tried this but it brings up my most recent purchase and not the oldest in 2004. Any other suggestions?

I did back it up but when I restored it to the new computer, it does not work and says I have a "serial number error" and to contact Matrix. The game was purchased in 2004 as "War in the Pacific."

Any other suggestions?

Are you using the same info you would have used for your 2004 purchases? If you e-mail me with your personal contact info I can try to look up your past orders and see if there's another login you've forgotten.

However, FOF was released in 2006, so I assume that should be there right?

Regards,

- Erik

Er... ok, you're in the Forge of Freedom forum, not War in the Pacific. Which game is this about?

In any case, it sounds like you backed up the installed game. That doesn't work. You need to backup the file you downloaded (the installer). That's what sets up the game and all its settings. Backing up just the game files after it's already installed missed the registry info entirely and causes such errors when you restore without reinstalling.

Regards,

- Erik

You are right. I did not back-up the installer file, just the files. Good grief! I have the FofF installer from findmyorder.com but need WITP. I sent to you via PM the information you have requested.

Thanks.
