One day, while sitting bare-foot in the sand and watching the sun set at the edge of the horizon behind the azure blue sea, self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim finally, after thinking about it for almost 18 years, finally came to the conclusion that the sitting and watching had to find an end. He and his unsurpassed military talent, previously only contested in fierce and ferocious battles against coconuts and bananas, which he almost all won, were destined for greater things - world domination! It was as simple as that. He yelled it out onto the ocean: "You will know what it means to be conquered by me, world! You will know what it means to suffer!" Then he stepped on a piece of copper wire in the sand and squeaked. But - it came to him. This pain was exactly what the other self declared generals out there were supposed to feel from now, they and there soldiers all alike, they would know what it meant to suffer from the steely fist of the Wired Country! But now it was time for a nap. And while self declared Machiavellous T. Westheim curled up under his favourite palm tree, night settled in.

This is, where it begins. I'm finally far enough into this game (it IS a monster) to make an AAR of the beginnings. (I'm at turn 51 now). Let's start with the map, and large. The red circle marks my starting position and the arrows my initial, and quite obvious first targets. But, hey, this Machiavellous T. Westheim is a total fool, you know? Can this end well?

I will directly jump into Turn 6, because nothing happened before anyway. I already jumped to the eastern island and my engineer divisions are about to build roads to the western part of my starting island. They are also supposed to build a makeshift port in the isthmus southwest of my capitol to connect the sea village in the south better with the oceans. Preparations are underway to deploy troops to the next northern island, with accuratest accuracy named Central Island by self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim.

By Turn 8, the first wired riflemen reached Central Island - and just in the nick of time to claim the little town on the ocean there. It will have to make a base and bear the brunt of the enemy army there. They call themselves the Hindu Marines.

"Hindu Marines? Will they fight at all? This will be a sunday walk in the country for my soldiers, the most wired of them all!", laughed self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim on the other side of the ocean, and he couldn't have been more wrong.

To be continued.

The Wired realm at the end of Turn 9. The troops on the Central Island will soon be grooped into an independent command, but I'm short on PPs. But at least my start island and the island in the east belong to me now, well, at least the cities.

By Turn 11 the Central Island troops are organized into the I Corps. Well, by now it only exists of a small rifle unit and some engineers. The engineers are supposed to build a makeshift port on the southern tip of Central Island so in case of an Hindu offensive, which were to drive me out of the town of Triad, my I Corps could retreat west and be still supplied. Right now the I Corps is fed with troops from Supreme HQ.

Meanwhile, no Hindus are in sight. "These cowards!" yelled self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim.

I finally encountered Hindu Marines. They use armoured cars. What a surprise.

Encountered more Hindu armoured cars by Turn 13. My I Corps is larger, but it's hard to attack in the thick forest that makes up the western half of Central Island, especially with the riflemen I brought here. Need some SMGs and artillery would be even better. Too bad it's so expensive.

I invest a bit into ships, as I'm very dependent on them to jump from island to island, and I need to secure my supply lines across the oceans.

I will try to be offensive now though and put troops between the Hindu capitol and the eastern part of the island. "This shouldn't be too difficult." said self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim. "These Hindu cowards don't know how to fight at all!"

Do they? To be continued.

I am enjoying your "story-telling" style AAR.  Keep it coming, Westheim.

The small scale offensive is successful. After two turns I pushed the Hindus back by three hexes. Victory in sight? Well, not yet. My lines are very thin, especially on the left. My sea transport capacity is limited and I'm getting only very few troops to Central Island each turn. I Corps is mostly on its own and Triad is just a town with little production value.

Self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim learned the first lesson in Never-underestimate-your-opponents. One division of I Corps was almost cut off by the agile Hindu Marines, which move a lot quicker with their armoured cars, while the Wired troops move by horse speed at best.

"These cheap sons of ...!" yelled self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim. "I will teach them to try to cut off my brave soldiers. Major! Execute plan B-5, immediately." B-5 called for Wired airplanes to throw flyers with pictures of the cutest and hottest Wired women over several important Hindu cities. Even the cutest and hottest Wired women were so damn ugly, everybody started crying when seeing them. Sounded like a plan to undermine the Hindu home front and disturb production. Who cries, does not build armoured cars.

There was just a single flaw: there were no airplanes available to the Wired Country.

To be continued.

1864’s Wilderness was a dream with fluffy clouds compared to the thick and lightless forest covering these parts of Central Island. Everything is basically slow. At least the threat of encircling Hindu Marines was beaten back. But my flanks are still wide open.

Meeting with the opponent. I’m not the only one trying to build a road through this wooden hell. I’m within 3 hexes of the Hindu’s two major towns. However, I lack the equipment for a quick strike with a good chance of success. I could only go for an all out attack with uncertain result. What would self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim say? „Do it, you girly coward! When I was young we would break each other’s arms for something to eat, and all you sissy have to worry about is some stupid soldiers live ...? Go knitting somewhere else, you're a shame for the Wired Country!“

The enemies become more numerous now. There’s another people trying to get a foothold on Central Island. Acutally, they already have and hold two cities in the far east of Central Island.
In exchange, I started the colonization of the island west of my mainland. It’s basically featureless but makes for a good forward position when defending this sector of the world, which I will do. My main focus is on Central Island now.
Self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim was not pleased, however, with the situation of the I Corps. „We need more troops there now! What? Training and exercise? Get off my back with that, Major. It takes too long to bring these cowards into fight. We’ll reduce their equipment, starting with shoes and the second lunch ...“

To be continued.

First I was kept from playing by working overtime all week long, and then I have to stop this AAR right here. The game crashed repeatedly at the end of turn 59, where also my only savegame file is.

Sorry.

Running again. All readers hail to Vic, now.

Yes. Better remember, kids: always update your games when an update is available. A-And you shouldn't drink alcohol either.

So, self declared Machiavellous T. Westheim can deliver more death soon.

Turn 19 now. I managed to bring an infantry division between the Hindu capitol and the Hindu army further east. Also, I increased the front troops to five infantry divisions now, plus an engineer division. But I'm still worried about my left flank. Veeeery thin there.

It becomes a three-way fight on Central Island. Units of the Deep Army, coming from the Mainland further to the east, are closing in on me and the Hindus. More tension, anyone?
Meanwhile I'm trying to get a grab on the city of Lovesky. The Hindus aren't too tough there, but numerous enough not to be surrounded that easily.

Self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim had a bad dream last night, and ordered an attack on Lovesky. The casualties were heavy, but the Wired units captured the city without bigger problems and drove the Hindus out to the north.

The Deep Army stays quiet for now, which isn't that bad, since I only have limited troops on Central Island, and my left flank is still more than just thin.

In the western parts of the ocean I landed my new III Corps (the II Corps guides my start island) on the small island between my and the Workers Autocracy's starting island. I did not spot enemy troops there, but my navy (3 submarines and some cruisers) has yet to wreak havoc on the coasts of the Autocracy.

Finally, I need more PPs. It's turn 21 and I still don't have neither tanks nor airplanes. "Airplanes?" yelled self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim. "Airplanes are for cowards! We are no cowards, Major! Hand out wooden bats and spears to the 14th Division immediately. They will learn how to fight like men!"

To be continued.

Deep Army tanks (and not just small ones) appear in front of Lovesky! Luckily I just brought in some artillery. Well, some at least.

Turn 23; the Hindu Marines started an offensive all over the front. They couldn't hurt me in the north, but managed to deal significant losses to me on my western flank. In addition, one infantry division was cut off from I Corps command. I was unable to reconnect the road there. Lovesky is still threatened by the Deep Army.

On the western oceans my submarines sunk some Workers Autocracy's cargoships.

Turn 24; I had to retreat from my northwestmost positions on Central Island due to new attacks by the Hindu Marines. The new front is slightly shorter and therefore better stuffed with units.

I also have built up some light tanks, but they would be no match against the Deep Army's medium tanks. At least I was able to reconnect the makeshift port on the southern tip of Central Island with the I Corps between Lovesky and Triad.

"Retreat??" yelled self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim, who was so furious - he acutally spilled his good morning milk. "The Wired Country does not retreat, neither will it lose a battle. Major, the commander of I Corps will be executed im-me-diate-ly! Tickle him to death. Now!" The I Corps got a new commander, Generalmajor Eisenfels, who was supposed to make his name speak ...

To be continued.

The Hindu Marines disconnected the majority of the I Corps from the harbour of Triad. Supply is already getting scarce in Lovesky, and in addition one infantry division was isolated north of the city and suffered heavy losses.

Turn 26; I finally divided the I Corps. Took me two turns to reconnect both parts and I want them to be able to fight separately now. The western half of the I Corps was pulled off into the IV Corps.

To be continued.

Turn 27; self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim felt overly self confident enough to order an offensive of the IV Corps. The corps made up a good amount of ground, but couldn't reach the village in the woods.

The I Corps managed to fight the isolated northern division free, but suffered heavy casualties. Lovesky is still threatend by both the Deep Army and the Hindu Marines.

In the western oceans I launched more attacks on the Worker's Autocracy's coastal cities. Furthermore the III Corps prepares to occupy the southwestern most island in the next turns.

Turn 28 - hit hard; the Hindu Marines launched an offensive against both the I and IV Corps. A good portion of the IV Corps was almost encircled. Self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim had two fury attacks this morning upon hearing the bad news. The general in command of IV Corps was immediately removed from his command and taken back to our home island for further treatment. Operation "Pink Horse", the occupation of the southwesternmost island" was postponed.

It took some time to clear the mess at Triad up again. After Turn 29, the roads are free again at least. Captured Hindu soldiers were cooked alive and then sent back to their High Command as prove for self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim's seriousness about rising to world domination.

The situation in at Lovesky starts to look darker. More and more divisions of the Deep Army close in on the city. Engineers of the I Corps took defensive actions at the crossroads south of Lovesky. All tanks on Central Island are engaged in the south right now, and Lovesky is only defended by two infantry divisions with a PAK division.

Turn 30, almost losing it; the Deep Army attacked the I Corps in and south of Lovesky and almost managed to cut the city of! Self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim was not amused. He ordered an immediate counterattack. General Eisenfels, still in command of I Corps, obeyed and threw kind of all out against the Deeps. Luckily their southern flank was very weak and with combined attacks from the city and the southern crossroads the I Corps was able to open the roads again. General Eisenfels was awarded a decoration as well as brave Private Miller who ripped apart a Deep tank with his bare hands but cut himself at a rusty piece and had to have his arm amputated. Self declared General Machiavellous T. Westheim was very pleased and invited him to the president's palace (a tree house in the start islands biggest palm tree) for dinner. They were served coconut milk and coconuts.

To be continued.

Alright!
This is what I was after a couple of weeks ago when I asked for an AAR where the AI kicks some butt! instead of all the human player greatest-hits/I-never-lose-a-battle AARs!!!
Keep it going. You're not getting much comments but I at least am following with interest. That map should be a lot of fun....I'm playing one that's similar...lots of big islands makes for a great game, I'm finiding.
