IMO the biggest obstacle at the moment is the lack of cooperation between allies.

I've played three games to completion now, one as Britain, Once as France, and One as Spain. In each of those games, in particular the English one, my Allies never moved any Corps to support me, never asked me for monetary support, and in fact never seemed to do much of anything in way of cooperation.

I'd like to play as Prussia, but I'll be chuffed if I am going to hang alone for 10 years...

I agree with your assessment. I will have to work on the cooperation somehow. Are you using the diplomatic chat window in the diplomacy phase? dbl-click an ally and you can ask for money, land, attacks and defenses. Tell me if your allies are receptive to these requests...

I've gotten some help, mostly in the form of money.

I don;t think I ever received a Corps when playing Prussia, and when I loaned three full Corps to Austria to fight the French, he marched them to Constantinople.

Wish I had saved that game to show you.

Anyway's, I'll keep plugging away.

Thank Marshall,
Todd

In the game that I've been playing I gave up on the diplomatic chat window... I've been allied with Spain and Austria for most of five years but the answer I get every time I ask for an attack or defense somewhere is they won't... then their forces just sit in their respective countries and do nothing. So I went on to defeat France and Prussia with my own forces leaving the two of them to fend for themselves after France then Prussia surrendered to me alone.

France was able to force Spain to surrender eventually because for some reason the Spanish thought sitting in Cadiz was a better place to be than Madrid... even when the French moved into Spain!

Austria and France now just sit and stare at each other. France and Prussia didn't work together either. I kept expecting to get pounced on by a combined force but they just would mostly send single corps against my forces. I had little problem defeating their respective armies piecemeal. The only time I met the French "army" was when I marched on Paris. But by then there was nothing but militia left in it. I'd already wiped out their artillary, guards, and most cav. But do you think I could get one of my Allies to join me? Nope, they kept their forces at home. If a human had been playing either they would have been at least sieging all the other cities while I kept the French army busy in Paris.

Likewise Turkey and Austria haven't attacked each other once in five years even though they've been at war the entire time too.

The AI really needs some tweaking... As GB I was able to wipe out the French, Turkish, and Dutch fleets without a single ship loss... I gobbled up all of North Africa and established the Ottoman Empire (thanks in part to a pathetic attempt by Turkey to attack Egypt with only one corps and then allowing the war with Egypt to lapse.) After moving my forces to Egypt I attacked Turkey marching all the way to Constantinople without meeting a single Turkish Corps since for some reason they decided that Greece needed defending more. After the Fall of Turkey came the Italian campaign... I slowly marched up Italy expecting the French and/or Prussian armies to show up at any time. When they didn't I consolidated my hold on northern Italy and the Alpine area. Only then did the two send feeble attempts to dislodge me... mostly by trying to attack cities just behind my main force. Why Prussia kept trying to go around my force with a single corps to attack Turin is beyond me... there was nothing but a garrison there. My depot and main army where in Zurich. Needless to say I kept wiping out each corp as it laid siege to the city. France tried a similar tactic by going for Milan and Ignoring my main force and depot with a single corps at a time.

Once their forces where nearly wiped out I marched on Paris... then Berlin... during all of which my "allies" just sat back and watched. I finally stopped taking territory and started ceding some areas to Austria because by now I had a 15%+ lead in vp (vs the next closest) and felt like I was running away with the game.

Dude.
