Hey,

I have spent the last week playing the computer being every country, now I am ready for some human opponents...

being an academic and now being on break till late january, I have alot of time on my hands...so I am flexible when and how often we play...

so speak up if you want to put a game together...

I'm looking for a game too.

I sent a PM about the GMT 10 +-3 game, but I'm sure I can handle 2 :)

I am interested. I sent you a PM with my e-mail.

I would suggest we use a house rule from the boardgame that for France and GB to make peace, it must be an unconditional surrender. Further, if France surrenders, GB must choose to remove Napoleon, and if GB surrenders, France must choose to remove fleets and take "enforced access"

I always thought it helped preserve the flavor of the times, and also (more practically) prevents Fr/Gb from comcluding an easy peace and beating everyone ele up as a team.

Just a thought.

Alex

Alex,

Unconditional, certainly.

As for the options, I consider the requirement to take 2 fleets off the Brits to be redundant. Anyone scoring an unconditional against the Brits should take 2 fleets as a matter of course.

Removing Napoleon is very realistic and should be there.

Access against GB I've never understood the rationale for...You can't declare war with troops in their country, and to deter the Brits DOWing you, you'd have to leave quite a few troops there ... More than you can probably afford to spare. Seems like a fairly pointless pick ( although maybe that's the point...To ensure Fr only gets 1 'live' unconditional option pick ).

I agree that anyone getting an unconditional from Britain looking to humble GB would definitely take fleets. However, I have seen "soft" unconditionals where people purposely take picks that are (relatively) harmless just so the war can end and they can ally. I think this is a legit tactic in most cases, but given the hatred between GB and Fr at the time, I think that in this particular case, it does not have the right feel.

Certainly both opinions on forced access are valid. My feeling is that if France leaves a corps with 20 factors in Britain (not unreasonable for Frnace to do) that GB is going to be VERY hesitant to DoW France again, and if they do, they will likely have had to shift significant resources from the fleet to the army.

Anyhow, I just threw the idea out there for consideration.

On House rules,

I would agree that GB and FR should be unconditional surrender and lets have removing nappy a condition or removing fleets depending on who sues who ...but not the occupation, etc,etc..it just gets too complicated and I dont like making too many house rules...

If you still need someone, I'd be pleased to join the band... I'm in the GMT+2 area.

Send an email with your Matrix name and your email that you are using for this game to ecn1@cornell.edu.

OK if you have not done so already download the GAP here:
http://www.matrixgames.com/games/downloads.asp?gid=285
Please read this handy post before you start the GAP and put in your bids
http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=1641790

I would suggest we call our game Ezra in honor of Ezra Cornell who started the school where I teach...
After using GAP save your file as Ezra_yourname and send it to ecn1@cornell.edu

I would also suggest the following for rules unless there is great dissent:

Winter Land Movement +
Guard Commit +
Allow PBEM Host +
Allow Option Changes during the game -
Third Party battle resolution -
PBEM passwords +
Econ Manip +
GB/FR War +
Leader Cas +
Priv -
PBEM Quick -

Also, a house rule that GB and FR may only have an unconditional surrender, - that GB must remove Nappy and FR must remove two fleets

questions, comments, etc...stuff I am missing?

Bid sent.

Optional rules all look good.

When you have them, if you can post all the e-mails, that would be great.

Good luck to all.
