Greetings,

I was wondering how the turn sequence works in PBEM.

Does each phase of the game constitute a mini-turn that requires each player to submit a file or can you do your whole turn in go and await the results. Just want to know what kind commitment is required to get a decent turn rate per week.

Thanks

Each phase is a mini-turn requiring file exchange...I cannot imagine how it could work otherwise.

HanBarca is correct. Each phase will require a player to send out a turn file.

You are right about it seeming the only way.

My only concern is that a 100 turn campaign game becomes a 500 turn/phase game. For PBEM that could create very
long games with the busy lives we lead.

Having said that I am still keen to try as I enjoyed the board game

I think that anyone that is a hardcore EiA fan will not mind the time it takes or the amount of file swapping needed, to complete a game.  It used to take us a year or more playing F2F to finish a game, and now the computer gets to speed some hings up, which helps as well.

Now I am having a flashback of calculating morale on some monster stacks, waiting for the player to make up his pinning and outflanking forces, rolling dice, figuring losses, etc.

The game does save you a lot of time and anxiety about calculating morale levels, casualties, and supply costs.

We're on the verge of starting our first seven-player scrimmage.  We don't want to surrender the tactical pleasures of combat, so it means we'll have even more files to exchange as battles errupt across Europe.  Complicating matters further, we have players on both US coasts, Hawaii, Australia, and Yemen.  Perhaps my foes will see the wisdom of surrender and simply concede during diplomacy?
