Hi,

On the transfer subformations screen there is box on the right that shows basic cost. like this:

Basic cost = 40.

What is that 40 deducted from? And how is the number calculated?

Also, as far as LandCap - when it shows M / N how do M and N get calculated?

Finally, I was playing a bit of the Afrika 41 scenario. I was the British and I needed to move my Army HQ further back from the lines. But unfortunately it could not move! I noticed it had a dive bomber, staff, and engineer subformations. No trucks. Is it the dive bomber that's keeping it from moving? Or not having trucks?

Btw, Great game! I like how the Afrika 41 scenario gives me supply and reinforcements and forces me to work with what is given. I think with a little modification one could add action cards. The use of action cards would be to simulate my influence with higher command and request more reinforcements or better units.

Hey Ray,

I too am a newbie - but have found that if you have fighters in your HQ it won't move till you transfer them, then it moves fine. I think the same is true when your HQ contains naval units as well.

Yes German HQ has same problem - Aircraft in the HQ unit. It cant move until you transfer the aircraft out.

Not sure I'd care for adding an Action Card though, I dont beleive the AI is able to use them. Maybe as a game variant for Human vs human only.

(I'm playing North Africa right now too! -- very nice game!).

You can give AI cards and make it play through events - can be a random roll, or some trigger (enemy reaches zone X, Y units destroyed, so  many VP gained/lost) ...

Thanks for the suggestions on the action cards.

Now, to the more important question:
On the transfer subformations screen there is box on the right that shows basic cost. like this:
Basic cost = 40. (taken from the manual)
What is that 40 deducted from? And how is the number calculated?

I'd like to think this isn't a trivial value. This cost is deducted from something, and I need to know what that something is so that I don't run out of it at a key moment in the battle.

It appears to be the LandCap cost to transfer 1 unit of weight to that particular formation. (It varies with distance & possibly other things). Just below it you'll see something like LandCap = 0/20000. If you start putting things in to transfer, this will change. At basic cos=40, 10 Rifles would cost 400, and 2 artillery would cost 800 to transfer, for example.
