I'm sure we would figure this out sooner or later, but one of our players is on vacation before he even started so while we wait I thought I could clear this up and have it posted for other confused gamers like myself..

I've never had a PBEM game with so many different start files, and I'm a little confused about the exact procedure even after studying the manual countless times.

I am playing Russia, the AI is playing Turkey and Prussia, and other players are playing the other countries. The 'host' sent me the gamestart.pbm and I set up my forces with no problem. When I pushed 'end turn' then the AI played Turkey's setup phase, and the next one is Austria. My question is what file(s) exactly do I need to send to the Austrian player, and what does he have to do with them?

*Edit* after reading the manual one more time and this time I read a little further, it looks like I should send both .pbm setup files but not the .sav - then the Austria player loads from the gamestart (or the .sav if he has already loaded the gamestart in view mode??) and uses the 'Load Email Turn' button to load the turns for Russia and then for Turkey..... right? *end edit*

Also, i'm playing two different countries - Russia and Spain, using two different emails but the same computer. So what happens when it comes to Spain's turn? Do I have to go through it all again or only load the latest file(s)? (I always have to be difficult and do things the wrong way... )

Thanks.

Correct - you send your Russian setup and the AI Turkey’s setup .pbm files.

Playing two different major powers in a PBEM game, on the same machine, will not work without using some file management skills (i.e. continually using the copy, paste functions). Reason: When you get to Spain’s turn and finish with the setup, the program will auto save the game file. That saved game file now belongs to SPAIN not RUSSIA so that when is comes time to play Russia’s diplomacy turn, they will not have a game file to continue with (because you just overwrote it when it was Spain’s turn).

Richard
