There was a thread about who plays the AI and even here, the majority of people do. Matrix estimates that about 80% of players only play the AI or play the AI most of the time. There is a PBEM bias on the forum. I think sometimes the AI only players are made to feel like second class citizens. If you are more comfortable playing the AI, don't feel pressured to do anything else. I've had the game about 18 months and I still only play the AI. A lot of the improvements with AE do not make the game any harder to play, for example, the order of battle is a lot more accurate. Some make it easier, such as task force plotting. No more micromanaging task forces to steer them around enemy bases. Some things are going to take a bit of learning. I think that there might be some advantages for a novice player in AE. Experienced players of the base game have learned playing patterns based on what the game provided and the quirks of the game. They will have to unlearn a lot of techniques that a novice never learned. I wouldn't sweat about the bigger map though. There are more bases, but at any given point in time, most bases are behind the lines (on one side or the other) and probably aren't that big a concern. The changes to resources and production do require the Allied player to manage their economy a bit more than the base game. This game is a tough one to learn. I think it is quite rewarding in the end. This is a unique game, nothing else has this level of detail, this time scale, and is this large. Bill
