I thought I saw a post about this once, but I haven't been able to find it. How does one create a new terrain type? I don't mean graphics, but rather for example a shallow sea type that prevents larger vessels from entering, that sort of thing.

By adding a LandscapeType through the LandscapeType subscreen.

it is rather hard to see gray roads when one is making a map, any chance of the roads being darker in order for one to see them better?

If you go into the \graphics\default\roads directory you'll see the road graphics. You can edit them there. I made mine thicker and black. If you use MS Paint to change them just remember to change the background to pink, as MS Paint does not support transparency but AT does take pink as transparent.

I did find it, once I remembered you have to edit the masterfile and not the scenario. Unfortunately, I still haven't figured out how to achieve my main goal, which is to find a way to make terrain that one faction can enter and another cannot. Anyone have any ideas on that? This is the last thing holding up release of my scenario, and I'd really like to figure it out...

for desert landscapes in the game it would be nice for the hex on the map to show that this is a desert not just the picture when you place your mouse over the hex, kind of important when one is making a map.

So... is there a way to make terrain that one faction can enter and another cannot?

The only way I can think of is if you make a complete set of SFTypes each faction. Then set the movement value of the certain terrain for one faction's SFTypes to 9999.

Managed to figure out an easier way; made two sleeping regimes, and set them to war with the standard regime I wanted to be able to pass through their territory, and at peace with the regime I wanted to block off.  Works like a charm.

I am trying to create 2 new landscape types
- Broken Ground
- Trenches
When I go to the landscape type subscreen there are no addition buttons for clone or add landscape type.
When I open existing scenario's those options ARE available.
What am I doing wrong?

You first have to disconnect the masterfile. Do this by going into "Settings" then click on MasterFile. When it asks for a new file just hit return so no file is selected. Now go back to the Landscape types and the buttons will be there.

Thanks for your help and patience.
...another question;
How can I add to the property sheets?
I'm trying to build a trench element.
It's a bit of a hybrid, in that it needs a construction point cost like a road, and has attack over and move over characteristics like a river.
So I'm using a modified river element, but can't seem to find how to add the constuction cost component?
any clues?
again thanks.
