It is just irritating reading about what a great 'warrior' this guy thinks he is, when he plays such a one sided game where all the HRs are to his advantage.

Anyone can beat a one-legged man in a$$-kicking contest, doesn't mean you are good at kicking a$$.

What's up with these HRs - I finally got around to reading them.

10. Except initial chinese exp.force, only 2 other chinese corps could be changed to southeast asia command and be able to fight in burma and india. There is no restriction to support units, however. Those 2 corps should be announced.
11.chinese forces under china command can fight in manchuria, korea, taiwan, vietnam, but not siam, burma,DEI,or india, etc.

But Japs can move from Manchukuo?!?

I know...i didn't think too much when i agreed...He offered me the game and i took all the HRs he asked just thinking that i wanted a game...never had these kind of problems before...

however guys, these are the HRs and i simply have to live with them or abbandon the game. But i want to play so let's take them as they are and let's try not to lose at least

Yea - watch for those L3Y's - they have some long range abilities. A base force is probably enough to protect a base from Mavis transports though, because they have such small lift capacity.

I'd say he's going to air lift his troops out of Kwajalein with that many aux aircraft around. Either that or he's air lifting supplies in. Try flying LRCAP and sweeps over Kwajalein and see if you don't bag a bunch of his transports. LRCAP will intercept offensive missions and sweeps will intercept defensive missions. I know air lifting supplies is offensive, but I have no idea if air lifting troops out is considered offensive or defensive.

He may also be trying some para ops, make sure you leave at least a RCT at each island you take that is in range of Truk based air transports.

Jim

AFTER ACTION REPORTS FOR 03/04/42

After the fall of Bombay now all his naval units are massing there. Now he has betties and Nells guarding the access to the Aden Channell and a very close big port for his BB runs...it's going to be painfull...

Anyway, SS Barracuda managed to empty his torpedo tubes against another jap ship. After the AMC Kongo Maru, today was the time of a lonely AK....nothing important but i'm happy because my subs are starting to get more effective.

We unloaded another unit at Eniwatok (an AA unit), under the umbrella of my Wildcats. He doesn't dare to send his betties unescorted...not now however.
I'm planning to land at Eniwatok 2 Base forces,1 EAB unit, 1 AA unit, 2 CD gun units, 2 RCTs and 1 Arty unit.

In China he keeps on bombing with hundreds of planes Changsha and Hengchow, clearly trying both to burn my supplies, prevent me from building forts and denying me from moving any fighter there...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sub attack near Truk  at 66,78

Japanese Ships
AK Kowa Maru, Shell hits 4, Torpedo hits 1,  on fire,  heavy damage

Allied Ships
SS Barracuda

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ground combat at Ahmadabad *one more base in the bag for the japs*

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 6912 troops, 35 guns, 70 vehicles, Assault Value = 607

Defending force 5408 troops, 32 guns, 32 vehicles, Assault Value = 31

Japanese max assault: 248 - adjusted assault: 128

Allied max defense: 27 - adjusted defense: 9

Japanese assault odds: 14 to 1 (fort level 0)

Japanese forces CAPTURE Ahmadabad base !!!

Japanese ground losses:
32 casualties reported
Vehicles lost 1

Allied ground losses:
6760 casualties reported
Guns lost 31
Vehicles lost 19

By the way, what happened at Bombay that resulted it falling in a day or two?  I was expecting it to last a few months at least.

Not at all. I changed my initial plans following Jim's suggestions and evacuated Bombay in time, moving everything to Karachi and leaving there only the static bombay base force. It had only 40 AV points. He kept bombing the hell out of it using every day something like 200 bombers. Then he moved in the equivalent of two full divisions with plenty of engeneers and arty units. The fall of Bombay was predicted.
Karchi should be another trick....at least i hope so

Probably it's because i'm a law-guy but i know that when you sign a contract without reading carefully all the conditions in it, especially if the contract has been made by the other part, then you cannot say "Oh, well, sorry i didn't read the contract that well, can we abort it and make a brand new one?"

Anyway guys, i'm having fun with this game, despite the HRs and the constant ass-kicking i'm getting all over the map...and having fuin is what i really look for when i play a game, so it's ok.
Just forgive me if sometimes i tend to express my frustrations maybe too loudly.

Anyway...more important thing than the HRs....yesterday my GF mk. IX broke up with me...she said my model was inadequate for the task so she wanted to upgrade to the next B.F. Mk.XIX...so from today i'm again in the love-marke...time to get back to nights and parties looking for a brand new GF Mk.X, possibly without any 20mm. hispano cannon but with huge "bomb load"

Guys I'm very optimistic that GH will master the challenge of lets say a bit one sided house rules.
And the good thing would be that all the "warrior talk", that annoys some people so much, may stop after that...

GH: Good luck with Mk.X but don't mix up your priorities!

However, back to some analysis of this war.
Popape (S-E of Truk) has 2 units. I bet a base force and a naval garrison. Maybe too much to try a "coup de main" with a fast transport...better to start reducing it from Eniwatok as soon as it reaches level 4 AF. Now supplies are flowing to the base, under the umbrella of 30 wildcats...i really hope he will start the air-attrition battle here to try to forbid to me the construction of the base...

In the next week or so i'll have to move back from Malir to Karachi, so for the second half of March it will start officially the siege of Karachi...i'm really curious to see how much it can hold...

I just read your opponent's house rules and his posting seeking an opponent.

Sir, you are truly a Gentleman of Character and Integrity for continuing under these conditions.

Still thanks for the kind words.

Answering to a previous question, i do not plan to leave any of the Marshalls islands undefended. I doubt he's going to use his paras in the pacific...as we have just seen he can now use them to scrumble my movements in China like he did in India...
More or less (because things may be changed in the next weeks) the defensive compositions of my new dominions in the Marshalls are the followings:

Tarawa: a strong base force with 1 AA unit and possibly a RCT released from NPAC
Maloleap: 1 Division,1 RCT, 1 CD guns, 1 AA, 2 Arty,1 Aviation rgt.
Wotje:1 Division, 1 RCT, 1 CD Guns, 1 AA,2 Arty,1 base force with radar
Jaluit:2 NZ Bdes,1 AA,1 CD guns,1 base force
Eniwetok:...here the situation is fluid...for sure 2 RCTs,2CD guns, 2 AA units, 2 Base forces and at least 1 EAB...

I will keep the 2nd Marine Div at PH for the moment, but i'd like to use it as a reserve...

I hope you mean just moved down from NPAC and not spending PP for it. If you're going to spend PP spend them on the RCT's at Panama, you have lots there and get quite a few more as reinforcements there that all need to be released.

Jim

Yes, don't worry Jim! They are free to move without any PP spent... i'm saving now my PPs to release some good unit from Panama or West Coast...but still i have too few PPs (300 i think at the moment...)

Don't worry Jonathan! Your game is well under my "must-do"things...only problem is that i'm getting my butt-kicked even there

Ok, here's a screenshot of the units that are scheldued to defend Karachi. isn't well ordinated because at the moment the units are in 3 different hexes so i could not order them as i'd like...however it pretty sums what will be my defences...

One thing bothers me regarding this game, what is your victory point situation? Is it possible he will get 4:1 at 1/1/43 just holding India and some of China?

we're, right now, something like 2.7-1 ratio.
Do not know how many points he will get taking Karachi and all those troops...probably close to 4-1 i guess...
In China VPs caunt a bit less...i just have to be carefull not to let many units get pocketed there...
Anyway Trollelite told me he doesn't care about VPs...so i'll try not to look at them, also because i cannot really do anything more about India..

Gosh! We TOLD ya you nasty boy!
But don't get "divorced" yet uh? Now it's the fun part for the Allies

If you take a look at Admiral Laurent's game, you'll see that the Allies definitely always have a chance to come back.

Do you have any rule about not going for the Aleutians?

Edit: Hey GH, does this: "13. No allied offensive action in northern pacific before soviet enter war. They can take back any american territory occupied by japanese, however." mean no Aleutians move except if he does it first?
Holy crap, he really had you.

But from what I saw here, what other people told you and what I see over at Pauk's, take my word. That man ain't kosher to me.

I'm confident btw.

Yes, Aleutinas are a forbidden theatre......for me at least. He can attack if he wants to, so i have to keep some units there...

So if not for VP victory I don't see any way he can really benefit in strategic sense from his little India endeavour. He already "lost" a sizeable army that will have to stay in India if he doesn't want to lose it even faster than he got it. And he's already in worse shape in the Pacific than he was at start. Sorry, no profits there in my opinion.
Do you have any HRs that prohibits you from use of paras for recon? I think you should be able to land on Marianas from Eniwetok? Not now as it would only alarm him but later it may provide valuable intelligence.

Yes. Just like Elladan says the more ground he grabs the better.
It will only make him weaker everywhere else, especially in SOPAC.

What are your offensive projects GH? Is the whole KB in Bombay right now?

I haven't any transport a/c that can fly at that range! And, above all,i do not find historically correct to use allied para units as kamikaze recon groups... we do not have a specific HR for that btw

Holy crap, he really had you.

In regard to this HR, it could be interesting to see how you define 'offensive action'. Is building up bases like Kiska or Attu basing long range recons and FP there considered as an offensive action? Is mining considered as offensive? More importantly is building up a sub replenishment base offensive? Okok I play with words

Anyway taking a look at both the North and Central Pac zones after Retribution, he clearly moved/redispatched no LCU from their initial position nor did any major effort to fortify or mine so far, most 4th fleet SNLFs are more than likely still at Kwajalein and the same goes for the SouthSeas units, I would bet they are all still at Truk.

Question is what is his overall transport capacity in this theatre?

Also any idea of his situation in the DEI? What has he left to defend Amboina, Kendari, Koepang? Alternating strikes in this area once he come back in strengh in central Pac and a follow up advance against the Mariannas could seriously put him offbalance. His tendency to overconcentrate can be used against him.

Also some selective fast transport-commandos actions against poorly defended outposts can be worthwhile even if you dont plan on staying due to your limited ressources. That would ruin his efforts to fortify and may force him to redeploy reserves in emergency rather than in a planned way.

I haven't any transport a/c that can fly at that range! And, above all,i do not find historically correct to use allied para units as kamikaze recon groups... we do not have a specific HR for that btw

What about Catalinas/Coronados? They should reach at least 18 hexes. And as your opponent is using his paras in very unhistorical way I don't see a problem with that. I presume you are not allowed to land from subs?

Do you have any rule about not going for the Aleutians?

Edit: Hey GH, does this: "13. No allied offensive action in northern pacific before soviet enter war. They can take back any american territory occupied by japanese, however." mean no Aleutians move except if he does it first?
Holy crap, he really had you.

In regard to this HR, it could be interesting to see how you define 'offensive action'. Is building up bases like Kiska or Attu basing long range recons and FP there considered as an offensive action? Is mining considered as offensive? More importantly is building up a sub replenishment base offensive? Okok I play with words

TenChiMato is definitely right. I see nothing that may forbid you from bombing Kuriles into submission once your Aleutians bases are built up there. If he wants them, he'll have to come and get them!
