Today I had opportunity to try the scenario editor on a 1920 x 1200 resolution monitor for the first time since the CRT age. I expected the program to crash upon loading, but it didn't.

At what resolutions does the scenario editor crash upon load for you? The expectation is everything 1600 x 1200 or higher.

My system is a Lenovo T60 notebook running Vista 32 (the notebook part making me question if the computer is still suggesting the notebook display resolution to the SE even though I'm using only the 1920 x 1200 monitor).

Thank you

My SE crashes at 1600 x 1200 resolution. Sure would be nice if I didn't have to reset my resolution to use the Editor.

Thanks Smitty, I doubt I'll be able to fix it until I can replicate it again on my development machine. There aren't a lot of you chiming in on this thread either <g>

Works fine at 1024 * 768 for me.

Though I'm guessing I'm probably running way behind the times on what is possible resolution-wise.

I just got an LG 20" HD capable (Technically a TV but it has ALL the connectors) so we shall see what comes up when I get the monitor up & running, after I get the new PC up. The hardware is here but it's all in boxes.

Hi Tony,

If you want to try out any ideas, I'll be glad to work with you, since I obviously have a machine that it crashes on. If you are interested I can tell you specifically what happens when I try it.

Thanks Smitty, perhaps if we can meet up via chat of some kind (I should be around Wednesday and Friday evening (I'm US Central Time, GMT-6)).  There are 3 chat links at http://www.harpgamer.com/ , at least one of them should work, instant messaging is also possible if IRC and PHP chat will not work.

What I can hopefully do is keep feeding you slightly altered Scenario Editor builds until we track it down (the error message doesn't much help, we'll keep adding and adjusting logging until we isolate the problem(s)).  So being in close contact will be important.

Scenario Editor runs fine on my desktop at 1920x1200. Crashes if I try to extend the game onto my second monitor in any way.

Smitty spent 4 hours testing 16 builds of the scenario editor on his hi-res monitor and it appears we've located and circumvented the problem.  The patch will say for sure when more of you get it, but at least for Smitty, 1600x1200 resolution won't crash the SE starting with build 2008.019, yay!  Thank you for taking the time to work thru this with me
