Gentlemen;
My brother-in-law just called. He is starting restoration of an M38 jeep (circa 1950-52). He asked if there were any from 1950-55 that would have been painted desert sand or were all painted iolive drab? Thank you.

In 1945 they sold Jeeps with an optional "Harvest Tan" color:

BTW - in looking for this, it turns out that "Jeep" was an unofficial name, originally (apparently) used by GIs to describe any untested piece of equipment... the story goes some reporter in 1941 ask a GI what he was driving (it was the Wiley's vehicle), and he replied "a Jeep" - and the name stuck.

Wiley's copyrighted the name after the war (and we can see them touting that in the ad...)

EDIT: Notice the ad still has the quotes around the word JEEP...

Thanks Bob. I am going to email him the link to this forum page.
