only played part of Russia 41 by myself so far so Im a total newbie but would love to play a game with someone, probably 2 player till I get used to it and a scenario you might think will not be too overwhelming but allow me to learn

Im not sure if Im doing the Russian game even right (I mean do I have an understanding of the logistics and all)

thanks

email me if you like maullaptop@cableone.net, I can do about a turn a day, sometimes more sometimes not each day depends on the scenario I suppose.

I am a bit tied up with other PBM games at the moment so do not want to start another. If nobody replies to you you may find the best way to get an opponent is to register on the AT community site and goto the casual ladder and challenge another player that way.

PBM is much better than with the AI. More sense of devastating failure if you lose and euphoria when you win .

I would recommend Europe1939 to start off with as you start off with a small amount of things to do and slowly but surely the turns then take ages and there are lots of things to do. Its a great scenario with a lot of decisions to make. The Russia map maybe a bit of a steep learning curve for starting off but if you like diving headfirst!

Good luck in finding a game. You will find these forums very useful in finding info about the game.

ok, guess Ill try that then, anyway to tell if a player is a newbie like me so I a) dont get my butt handed to me in 5 turns or b) annoy the player Im playing against cuz Im worse than the ai?

Steve,

If you want a game, I would be interested. I would have to classify myself as a "bloodied" pbem player, but not necessarily a "good" one. I have been beaten by some excellent players, Boron and Seille, multiple times, but have not yet won a pbem game. If you wish a game of Russia 41 or Europe 39 game, let me know at wmcalpine at aol dot com.

ok I havent signed up yet so lets do Europe 39, I would play as whoever, would pefer whoever is easiest so I can learn more than win, (this game) not saying I dont like to win, just need to learn first but I always play my best and to the end good or bad as well, hate when a game is stopped short.

do you want to set up the file?

Steve,

OK, I will play the Axis side and send out a turn tonight. This scenario makes extensive use of action cards to place reinforcements. I usually make mistakes placing reinforcements in the wrong city. If that happens, just replay the turn and let me know.
