I don't see the problem based on your posted specs - could you post a DxDiag file for us please?

Hello Titan,

Since you can run the tactical side of things it might be worth playing with the resoultion in settings and also try lowijng the graphic settings.

Performance biggest savers in BOBII

horizon distance = medium (saves 15%) or low
weather = medium or low
particle density = Medium or low
Object Density = medium or low
Water = medium or low

As with any simulation this side of the game will just require you to try a few settings to find the sweet spot for your individual system.

Cheers,

Lewis

Thanks for the response. I Can't run the tactical but larger strategic game. When I go into fly all that happens in a "Still Screen" but goes no where from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your OPTIONS / 3D resolution settings.  Turn off the USE DESKTOP RESOLUTION and manually select a resolution you know your monitor supports.

Also, check here for all known issues:

I purchased the game last night but am afraid I have encountered the same exact problem. Specs should handle this game and I have tried several of the suggestions here.

Battle of Britain II requires a video card to play.

The post above with the GeForce 6800 card is an odd one, which is why I suggested he check his resolution settings.  Sometimes the auto-res picks up an odd resolution.

Be sure to check the www.shockwaveproductions.com/bob/troubleshoot link.  BOB2 is quite mature and there are few unknown issues with the game.  I'll keep watching this thread to help out and answer any questions.

Scott.

Will do Titanwarrior89. I will probably come back to it this weekend to try and make it work. I had the original BoB and enjoyed it warts and all.

Bennett. I finally got it to run. Had to turn off/low on just about everything and waited for about a minute for it too load from the stile screen(sky with planes or clouds background).

I tried reducing all visuals to minimal levels. I managed to get the single Bf 109 German take off training mission after waiting ten minutes. Still haven't got any other tactical missions to load.

Now I can't run anything again.   I think I'll uninstall and give up.   Maybe I can run one scenario  as the brits but not the germans.  But if I get out of the convoy scenario -still goes to a stile frame picture.

Ok got ready too uninstall and decided to try one more time.  This time I played the scenarios that I couldn't get to run(so convoy was running as allied).   I let it set in the stile screen for about 12-to 15 minutes and it finally started loading.  When it did finally load and run(in tactical mode) it ran good.

So it is up and running but takes a long time to load in the Non-convoy scenarios.

What are you both running in terms of other background software? Have you tried killing all extraneous processes to see if that helps the game at all?

I now have it running great.  All campaigns load in about 2 minutes.  I closed out or set to low all setting in the game and closed "completely" out my Norton anti-virus.  Working great now.  Thanks for the help guys.

Ok, great to hear Titan.

Bennett, unfortunately I'm going to have to ask the Shockwave folks for some more help in your case. Feel free to also post your issue at the dev forum, I'll be in touch with them on Monday morning to see if they have any other suggestions.

Regards,

- Erik

Problem fixed. I disabled the Norton anti-virus but, with Titanwarrior's advice, I shut down every functionin Norton. That did the trick. Thank you for the usual fine support and patience on this issue.

Titanwarrior - I have started to upgrade some of the settings from off or low and am having some good results.

In all honesty, you guys should ditch Norton series products completely and switch to less intrusive security software. Norton is known for causing all kind of problems with other software, especially games.

I have used Norton and McAfee and they are both horribly intrusive. I now use AVG and I leave it on with all games with no problems. It has also caught many viruses and Trojans in the year I have had it. Here is the link:

www.grisoft.com

Hope that can help someone.
