I am very disapointed with Maximum Football 2.0. I think the concept is very good, but poor execution of a good idea. Graphics are flatout terrible! The players look bad. Overall, the game looks cheap and cheesey. Visual presentation is very inportant. This not what I expected from a $50.00 pc game. Game play is slow. There are too many things I did not like to list. However, I do not like your competition (Madden 2008,2007,2006, and 2005) EA has been selling nothing more than a glorified roster update since the 2004 editition. I did like the way the game opens with the players coming onto the field, it reminded me of the USFL. Please do not give up. P.S. Maybe you can a Canadian Field with an American 10 yard endzone. Thank you and good luck.

From a Graphics standpoint
this game was never meant to compete directly with Madden although it's an improvement from MaxFB 1.0 but most of us here can live without the fancy graphics because there is not much out there for the PC except for Text Simulators.

You know, I really disagree. I don't think the graphics are that bad at all. I mean, you're right, they don't match the graphics of Madden, but they aren't "flat out terrible." The only drawback that I agree with is slow gameplay. But, the game is making progress. Plus, can you imagine if the creators of Madden listened to even 5% of what it's customers said? These guys here take a LOT of their time to listen to and answer user questions.

Maximum Football 2.0 if FAR from a disapointment. In fact, I feel that it's on the verge of becming something amazing.

First of all, Maximum Football has never been a $50 PC game, as far as I know. It currently is something like

PC Physical Shipment ($35.99)
Digital Download PC Download ($25.99)
Physical Shipment Plus Download ($35.99)

A game that has been developed by one guy, that can do FAR more than any PC(or console) football game I have ever seen, is far from a disappointment. It has never been stated anywhere, on this board or elsewhere, that it was designed to take on the graphics heavy Madden.
Where Madden may appeal to the gamepad crowd, MaxFB is an option for people who actually enjoy the strategy of football.

Dont think we're jumping on you, castor_troy. We're just loyal fans who have been waiting for a game like this for a long time.
Your opinion is very valid, as it is your opinion. We just want to bring in all the new users we can, and ask that people take their time and give max a chance.
I would ask that you hang in there, learn the PDS and throw some playbooks together and explore all the things that Max can do. You might realize you can get past your issue with the graphics and really enjoy the game.

Everyone's opinion is as valid as the next guys, and I'm sorry to hear that you're dissapointed. But from what you posted I'm guessing you were expecting something similar to Madden in graphics/gameplay style. MFB isn't that.

What MFB does best is give you the tools to create a whole 'world' of football. Something the Madden type games can't do.

Fair enough.

What were your expectations going in?

I think the concept is very good, but poor execution of a good idea.

I believe it is a good concept as well.

Graphics are flatout terrible! The players look bad.

I disagree.  The graphics do what they should, and they are much better than text sims.

I'd like to see some updates of the player models, and we likely will in the future, but other items have priority.

Overall, the game looks cheap and cheesey. Visual presentation is very important.

I disagree for the most part.  While the game could use a high resolution facelift in the future, it isn't cheesey in my opinion.

This not what I expected from a $50.00 pc game.

Again, fair enough.

Did you take advantage of the sale?

Game play is slow. There are too many things I did not like to list.

The game plays at the pace of a real football game.  One can select quicker play by changing variables.

What did you like about gameplay?

Madden has had some slick graphics improvements over the years.  It does what EA wants it to do, and that is be a fast paced arcade game with lots of scoring.

I believe you may get a better feel of Maximum Football if you play it with user created leagues and have some fun with the PDS.

Maximum Football will not match Madden in graphics, but please back up a bit and take a look at what the game can do before allowing your original disappointment to be your final thoughts on the game.  You may even find it a bit fun to help push the game forward by being part of this community.

Thank you for posting your concerns.

I haven't been unhappy with the graphics at all. But I didn't buy the game for graphics...I bought the game for quality gameplay in terms of coaching and strategy. And Max Football delivers. I've been longing for something that would take over where FBPRO left off, and Max has done that. Other than ironing out the kinks, the only thing I feel Max is missing is H2H online, and I know David has plans to add that at some point in the future (although I also know it's a major undertaking).

The graphics are a bit choopy up close but I don't really notice because I tend to play the game from the farthest out cam. There are a few naging issues that prevent me from playing as much as I want but I believe they will be adressed with the next patch.

Plus I see the 40$ I spent almost as an investment in what they game could become. Imagine how great it would be If a few years from now a large software developer put big money behind Dave's product after seeing his relative success with small resources. Given Dave's attentiveness to the concerns of the customers I bet we would have a game that blows madden out of the water in every way.

I paid $50 when I bought it and I am perfectly happy with the purchase. As stated above, you have to have appropriate expectations for this game. It was never intended to match Madden in the graphics department (any more than Madden is intended to be a simulation of actual football). This is the game for those looking for a deeper, customizable, football experience. It is truly the next generation of Front Page Sports Football Pro. Give it some more tweaks and it will be everything anyone could want!!

Hope I don't sound like a suck up or anything :) But I just bought the game too, and I have to disagree with you also. In fact, I think it is the best football game I've ever played....period.

Madden is the best for joystick jockey's, and it's graphics are awesome. But Madden never delivers what Max does. Fbpro98 was great for it's day, Madden 2002 had promise, and NFL Coach plain sucked. Max is better than all three of those games.

One problem with it is that it has a steep learning curb for some people. I think if I had not played fbpro I may have had trouble too. But this game is great!

This is the type of game I've been waiting for.  I can play a glorified CFL anytime I want.  It met every one of my expectations. and with every update, I enjoy the experience more.

Maximum Football may not have the graphics of Madden, but you can't play any type of football either. I like Max where you can change almost everything.
