I put Battlefront down for the summer while I went back and revisited Sid Meier's Antietam (GREAT gamed) but recently I tried MG scenario again. Last time I got stuck at Nijmigen bridge, I had engineer units adjacent but could not cross

So I tried again and I'm glad I did. Battlefront is NOT a game for the easily disheatened. I didnt win the first 2 tries at MG, and to tell the truth, after the first 2 turns of shock and awe it is a bit tedious racing your units north trying to cross bridges. Meanwhile the 1st AB is taking a caning at Arnhem from the Nazi armour .

This time, however I perservered, read the tut's again, watched the supply and kept the command teams close. I didnt retreat from hex 34,16 (the Arnhem bridge) but I lost Oosterbeek and the landing supply zones - things were very grim. By turn 11 my lead tank units had reached the bridge, I got a few units across the bridge and entrenched, but they were out of supply straight away! At one point I had 8 units on 2 hex's on the north side of the bridge, while the Germans were getting 10-1 odds on me! My artillery was useless - why do the dice hate you when you need them most???

The breakthrough came on turn 13, I had 5-1 odds on hex 35,16 (east of the bridge) and got a DR result! Beauty!! FOr the rest of the turn I've been plowing units across the bridge anyway I can, I've now got 22 unit across, it's a command nightmare with different units mixed up, and I dont know if supply will cross the bridge. I'm still facing Co C 506 Hvy Tank (King Tigers!!) in hex 34,15 (1 hex nth of bridge) acting like an evil steel toll collector but they are totally cut off from supply.

As I said before, not a game for players who like to stroll through and win - then on to the next level. But still the best stategy game I've played for years.

Grunt - wannabe Monty

Very nicely written.  From the screen shot, looks like Jerry can't lift his head without a fighterbomber roaring by, too!

There are no easy victories in Market Garden, that's for sure. Congratulations on making Monty's plan work.
