Are we going to see more activity here now that the writers strike appears to be over?

Yes, it is looking good. I am of two minds. For one, I won't have to carry around this stupid sandwich board anymore, but, on the other hand, the new product will mean the end for those old CHiP's reruns and the extra income from residuals.

It does also make me nostalgic. It was honor to write for an actor of the caliber of Erik Estrada. The man was 100% professional. He was (maybe still is) a method actor. Before every shoot he would hang out for hours at Dunkin' Donuts in his CHiP get-up.

OK...gotta go. Here comes the Union thug. Believe me. You don't want to make this guy mad.

**********Positions of 251 Coy, 16:40, November 30, 1942***********

As a recall bugle sounds, grey silhouettes become more indistinct as they withdraw into the smoke. For 150 yds in either direction the streambed is now littered with a dozen Type II's and half as many Grants. A Japanese assault has been met with an Allied counterattack which, in turn, has been met with an all-out Japanese charge along the line of 7th Armoured. This too has failed. The road cut by 251 Coy has been a center point of enemy efforts and the natural jump off point for the veterans from North Africa.

Lt. Uppington-Smith: CEASE FIRE! Take thaat you little yellow baastahds! How did you fancy a taste of Long Eaton, eh?

Sgt. Bonebrake: <calling from radio> Sir, it's brigade sir. They say 3 battalion, 16th Punjab will be coming into line on our right sir.

Lt. Uppington-Smith: Very well, Sargeant. Have 3rd platoon notify me of their arrival. I shall want to greet them. I don't want them soiling the cretaceous bed with curry.......

********** 09:15, December 5, 1942, XXXXXXXX **********

General Allen surveys the dozen ships bearing his troops in XXXXXXXX harbour from the bridge of RNN XXXX XXXX. They are just getting underway. Departure had purposely been delayed until the ususal morning Mavis reconnaisance from Norfolk Is., in order to avoid disclosing their departure. After 2 months of preparation, their time has come. A time to take retribution for the prior defeat at Port Moresby.

Yow! Big things about to happen somewhere!

Hey, do all those "triple-Xs" refer to secrecy or the type of activity about to take place?

Stay cool, keep low, and don't stop!

********USN Forward Motor Torpedo Base, Tenimbar, in the Southern Banda Sea, 23:20, December 5, 1942********

Captain Binghamton studies a navigation chart perched on a small card table lit be a kerosene lamp. His "office" is a used Quonset hut perched unevenly and hastily on unprepared ground. His job is to isolate Aru Island and attack targets of opportunity in the Banda Sea. His original force was comprised of 18 PT boats, but first reports from last night's raid on Amboina suggest he may have lost as many as four boats. "Eh", he says to himself, "they ae only one Vcitory Point each" His small operation has no coastal defence guns, no airstrip, no radar, no security troops. Fuel for the boats is stored in 80 gallon drums by the jetty and hand pumped. Torpedo reloads are under a tent. It is a shoestring operation, but he can scarcely guess what kind of annoyance he has become to the Imperial Japanese Navy.

He looks down to see a 3 inch cockroach near his foot. He crushes it without a thought. As he conducts a damage assessment on the cockroach, the still night is rent by an unwordly shreik. An 18 inch shell screams over his head....

Egyptian Girl's Note: It is the general policy of the editorial board to discourage the use of the passive voice in this narrative. We have noted a certain contributor is fond of this construction and the board wishes to distance itself from this practice. Such noted experts such as Mssrs. Strunk and White in their Elements of Style argue that such usage can be unnecessarily verbose or even <POOF>

If I only knew how sanding off tire treads could help the M&M Financial Improvement Effort...I'm waiting anxiously for the next chapter!

Great writing, as usual   But if Al Gore reads this, you're history.

What's Milo up to with the cooling angle?  Planning to open up a market selling "Global cooling credits?"

I think he is one of those production magicians. There are Tonys all over the place now in Dec 42. He also has a pilot training factory at Cebu. There is one poor Philippino division still alive that gets bombed 2x/day.
