Based on no intelligence at all -other than the fact that another invasion "was due", the empires fleet sailed cuatiously, with plans to gather some 300 miles east of legaspi
What fuel that could be gathered, had been, some more would come, but with all the tanks finally filled, and the small number of AOs remaining topped up, the fleet sailed from the scattered ports .

It would, it was hoped, form 3 main fleets
A decoy fleet -in 3 small Task forces- CVL Ryuho, BB Ise 3dds, BB yamarishio,3dds, and a single 5000 ton AO

The main fleet, again in a number of Task forces
Under ADM Yamamoto himself - CVs Akagi, Kaga, taiho, CVEs, taiyo, unyo, chuyo, shinyo, kaiyo, BB yamato, Mushia, Nagato, Mutsu, and just 5 DDs
Under now Admiral Tanaka -CAs Tone, chikuma, myoko, hagura, ashigara, mogami, mikuma, suzuya, kinugusa and 4 dds.

And a third fleet, again a number of task forces
Under RADM Yamamoto.k. - CVs, shokaku, zuikaku, unryu, amagi, katsaguri, CAs furatuke and kako -and 6 dd

under RADM Abe - CVLs Chitose, chiyoda, ryujo, hiyo, junyo, cl naka, 11 dd

under Capt Komatsu - BB harana, Kirishima, cl noshiro, sendai, nagara, kiru, abukuma, and 15 dds

A final small task force - another "bait" would lead the way -CV Hiryu and 2 DDs

The plan was basic -get tanaka into range -and release him and Komatsu against the invasion fleet.
some 6 ASW groups were already at work -the greatest losses would probably occur leaving japan -so many SS lurked off its coast now, too get through unscathed would be a miracle.

yesterday we sent the fleet to sea, based on no intelligence at all
Today we get some
Huge gathering of ships at Biak
24 units spotted there
Another big gathering detected today at truk -lots of LCVPs as well.
Today the fleet gathered near kagoshima, tomorrow it will gather into its specific fleets, and then head south
The decoy task forces have run the SS guantlet, and are well away.
Fuel also is headed south
The AOs are heading south
At soerabaya -63000 tons of lift just arrived - a division begins to load!
more still coming

today the allied air juggernaut smashed away at bangkok, and kupang, kendari, a couple of other places

seems like a few units are going around bangkok now -pretty awkward for tabpub -i hope, although all of vietnam ect will soon fall, except bangkok -that will hold forever at this rate

Only one japanese battle today - 18p40n and 36 b-29s attack taipei -and were met by 21 tony, 21 oscar and 18 frank
the franks did very well, I lost 5 fighters, shot down 12, and 3 bombers
P38s then swept the base -wiped out the oscars, 9 tonies, 5 franks, 3 shot down in return
A very big convoy was docked there -gathering fuel (when i say big -thats about 7 ships) -they will scram........

to sum up - the fleet sails
The tanker convoy is off legaspi
3 convoys are at soerabaya, or headed there
2 convoys are enroute to manilla
just 5 other little convoys are scattered on the map
EVERY AK/AP I have is at sea

Up off parishimio -a real my ss vs his ASW war is on, I have 6 ss here trying to get a real feel on just what I face up there.
I am confident that my troop numbers will be enough.

A hot day for the war today
I have a considerable wack of my fighters at taipei today -trying to protect the AKs sucking up fuel here.
tabpub has sighted em...............

The attacks went on and on
18 tony, 4 oscar, 13 frank - 31 P40n sweep in
8 lost 4 lost 1 lost 9 shot down

16 tony, 12 frank - 38p38j, and 38 p40n sweep
8 sd 10 lost nil 9 shot down

96 B-29 attack - little CAP left -but 33 turned back -i lose 8
then a series of medium bombers - the 20 fighters that go up in the arvo save the ships, but when 60 liberators attack -2 ak are hit

I move more fighters in.
he hits Brunie with B29s - ouch -30 hits
bangkok gets usual pounding, as does kedari -kupang, morotai, weda.
he sweeps singapore - 23 p38 -meeting 28 frank, 28 tony
we lose 6 fighters each
So overall the airwar was not the greatest disaster day a japanese player could have
And I get some fuel away.........

Eleswhere, ss I-181 covers itself in glory -she sinks a msw, and a sc today! -SHOCK!
I cannot detect a threat from Attu -not enough ships -just convoys.
I order CA atagoCL Yahagi, CL Yura and 5 dd to attack tomorrow - they have got into range undetected -ithink

Tabpub tries a deliberate attack at Honkers -after adjustment -2244 to 12825!
Another mud pit for tabpub -almost as good as bangkok

Hue fell today -so soon he will take cam ray bay -and the battle of Bangkok will be irrelevant -except he cannot leave all those troops there i suppose on his main supply route.

Now, i cannot see a threat to the north -but the classic tabpub invasion is gathering at hollandia/biak/arawe ect.
Zillions of SS to the north of siapan.
So - the fleet has cleared Japan - headed to the centre of the phillipine sea
I do not know his target -but if he takes on 2 -siapan/morotia -I will take the later to defend - here I have a better chance of hurting him -his death star MUST go to siapan .
TABPUB is going on holidays for 10 days -and he let this slip in his e mails over the last week - 'Im so busy loading stuff", and -"I do not want to launch an attack until Im back"
I guess the attack is loaded - so the fleet will be in position in time this time

tabpub is on holidays
So I have reviewed the entire war -and here is over the next few posts, a complete summary of it to date.

The game has come a long way since then -and reading back -its a miricle I got this far -I played so poorly, and, well -as you will see -the bugs really got me

Dec41
A god PH attack began this game, and pretty much standard landings in malaya, Khota Bharu, Songhilia.
The Phillipines had 4 divisions allocated -some at legaspi
Hong Kong fell quickly
After PH, 4 CV raced to the gilberts, 2 went to Jolo -where allied ss badly disrupted the landings
brunie fell -BADLY DAMAGED, as did Miri -BADLY DAMAGED

Jan 42
Troops entered manilla
KB hit PM,
Davao fell, kendari fell
Due to incompetence, the attack on manilla failed -no supplies!
Same at Clarke
the advance in malaya still going strong

several naval battles near the celebes, Dili quickly taken, Port Moresby siezed, Kupang taken, and singapore fell on the 28/1/41
But I had 4 ruined divisions in the phillipines

FEB42
I invaded darwin
secured the solomons, and the gilberts
Was repulsed at Mandalaby -rangoon fell easily -and invaded at medan -marching south
KB sailed into the Indian ocean -and cleaned up the dutch navy and airforce of Tilitijap .
By months end i was ready to try again in the phillipines, and had 3 divisions marching south to soerabaya

March 42
Burma offensive failed at Akyab -it had run out of steam
tarakan,taken-TOTALLY WRECKED
At manilla and Clarke -now 5 divisions again failed
And on the last day of the month palembang was taken
NO OIL
NO RESOURCES
oil -1 699damaged
resources 1-899 damaged.
The war was lost from this point on - so far i had siezed literally nothing for my efforts!
KB hit Aukland looking for trouble -Hosho got sunk during this op

April 42
In the phillipines things went from bad to terrible -Tabpub traps 2 divisions in manilla -using a single unit, forcing me to carry any available unit in japan to the phillipines -many at only 30% strength.

Then 5th Division was removed by the missing LCU bug (thats1)

May42
4th division, enroute to the phillipines -was removed by the missing LCU bug (thats2)
Siege of soerabaya began, clarke and manilla finally fell
This month saw a major oil/supply crises in the empire

June 42
Siege of soerabaya -a masterful defence by tabpub here
I begin a giant ruse -CVLs operate in indian ocean -and KB lurked -hidden, of baker island, which i had occupied for ages
I began to pull out of darwin -needing the troops eleswhere- (down 2 divisions already)
At the end of the month, with 3 divisions unable to take soerabaya -i I loaded 3 more for here
Unloading -and the LCU bug swallowed the Imperial Grd, and the 54th division(thats4)
I now had to find yet more troops to take soerabaya - fortunately bataan now fell
tabpub offered to not use 2 divisions -i now know that they were west coast ones, not ones actually involved in the war like mine were.
still -we played on.

July42
Allies invaded baker
trap was sprung - and a CV engagement ook place
2 allied CVs sunk, 4 CAs sunk -his entire remaining fleet got away by just 1 hex.
The allied 24th division, landed on the island, was destroyed at the end of the month as i retook it
(failed invasionNo1)

Aug42
nearly threw in the towel - was so pissed off over soerabaya -by now the troops at darwin had been carted there -this was the 3rd reinforcement -bugs taking out the first 2
Soerabaya finally fell
Fleet operated of derby -yamata nearly sunk by a single torp

SOERABAYA -heavily damaged

Sept 42
i began to dig in, except at PM -historical boundries
Oil droped to 600000 -and I was worried then
Akyab became the focus -as a nasty air war developed
I made the strategic decision (now known to be the right one) to deploy the bulk of the army into burma

Oct42
KB did little, burma was the main theatre, and tabpub invaded tenibar island
I tried to evac the place -and the LCU BUG took MORE MEN

KB raided Brisbane -and so did a Surface TF -big cull of allied AKs ect

Nov42
I began a big effort to retake tenibar island
gatered KB, and a lot of BBs -these I actually used as fast transports
35th Brigade LCU BUG -(thats 4 divisions, 1 brigade) disrupted the operation badly -KB struk darwin
Shanghia had a revolt - and HI was destroyed there
Burma -i conceded the air for a while

Dec 42
The final LCU Bug took the 54th division -5 divisions -I could have done a lot with them.
I will always beleive that I was defeated by game mechanics this game -good thing I play for fun
The year ended with a minor naval battle of Akyab - Tokyo express intercepted.

Jan 43
HI collapsed - i stopped all merchant production -just as his SS war realy swung into gear.
He began a bombing camp. on PM -PNG, and Timor
I launched a raid into india -bored with his bombing
battles over Akyab continued -I was trying to take the plave now
After 2 weeks jap A/F declared defeated in Burma -again

Mushia and Kongo destroy a convoy at Akyab

Feb 43
haranua gets to 97 flood after a ss attack -she will be saved
By now the bulk of my LCUs are in Burma -but i am hurting badly for troops

he invades Thursday island -11000 troops land -all aussies -and fail to take the place
Thus began operation quicksand -and the game suddenly came to life in a really great way.
I began by flying in troops...

baker island fell
naval battle Ndidndi -i am crushed
he tries paras at Thursday -and fails
I begin tokyo express runs -Liberators sink 5 DDs in one day -but 2 BC put a regiment in, then 4 BBs put in a division
tabpub runs in some troops
March 42
I run in a convoy
Oil hits 400000, i am throwing planes at thursady every day.
At the end of the month i begin to airlift some troops out.

April 42Allies begin a big offensive in Burma -Akyab i retreat -same at mandalaby to avoid being surrounded
pagan falls
I restablish on the river at moulimien -saving the army just from envelopment
Allies attack at thursday -it holds!

I empty the gilberts of troops this month -most have gone to Burma
Tokyo express runs to thursday continued - I put 5000 new ones in, as a rotation -500 out
I shock attack at thursday, and come within 5AV of a 2:1 -that close
Month ends with the discovery of a secret base at rossel island
and tabpub under CV/CVE cover brings a huge convoy to thursday island

the last eek of april sees myself with some CVE's playing KB west of thursday island, and KB to the east - coming down on rossel -that now has corsairs
His death star is at Thursday

I sink ships at rossell -he lands another divisionat thursday, I get some troops out

May 43
Major fighting over rossel -I send in BB groups, and the KB -sink 5 allied cruisers
After 15 days of fighting -many planes expended, many tokyo runs -Rossell is retaken! -(failed invasion2)
He attacks at thursday island -and still gets a 1to 1
Things go quite for 2 weeks

June 43
KB covers a convoy into Th island, other CV enroute to the Indian ocean
New CVs coming on line now nicely

The allies try again -Rennell island this time
I committ the majority of my LBA -big air battles
Over 2 days I throw them in, and on day 3 commit KB - only to have tabpub retire -he too hurt badly
Little shoho is sunk -Essex is crippled
I try to Tokyo express rennel island -but fail this time -too short on fuel, planes , anything by now

July 43
he begins a rapid swallowing up of the basically empty gilberts, he tries agai at thursday island -and loses 4 more cruisers here to betties

Adaman island falls
And Thursady island finally falls -5 months after the initial "gobble"

here is a good point to post a review of the game Wobbly did at this stage -

Inadvertently Herbie sent me the turn file for his game against Tabpub. After informing him of the mistake he then invited me to have a look at his situation from a different perspective.
My overriding thought at the end of my inspection was that Herb's situation is a house of cards. As soon as Tabpub gets a "damn the torpedos" mentality he will crash through Herb's outer perimeter and will be able to go on a rampage. This all stems from the fact he has no oil. I mean none. Of all the home Island bases there are only 4 or 5 that have oil in the thousands. The rest are running on fumes. He has had to turn off almost all aircraft production - while expending aircraft at a ferocious rate in the South Pacific - not a good equation. He had 3 large convoys of oil on their way home but he has no reserves to speak of. The fact he has managed to hold Tabpub back has been mainly due to the IJN and large commitment of his precious ships to each of his "quicksand" locations. Without bunker fuel this cannot continue.
This all stems from his misfortune, game instigated, when conquering the DEI. The all important Oil producer - Palembang - was torched. I mean completely destroyed. He has had to move valuable supplies there to repair the place up to a measly 150 capacity. Palembang wasn't alone unfortunately for Herb. Most of the Oil in Java was torched and the northern wells of Sumatra took damage as well. This has only left Borneo's production and the small producers in the SW of the DEI.
As Herb has stated. If you find yourself in a situation like this, all the "Japs are too powerful" comments do seem a little empty. It is a testament to his tenacity that he continues to battle on.
As a doom and gloom merchant I am going to state that Herb's Hurculean effort will start to sputter and even tabpub, who appears extremely cautious, will recognise Herb's vulnerability. Once he does there are going to be some very hard times ahead.
herb the heart is with you mate, but you're going to have to show a hell of alot of heart yourself to survive much past mid 44.

I have a similar situation in my game against MC3744 - except that I managed to lose the DEI to an allied juggernaught rather than oil being destroyed.  There was very little lreft of KB when I took over and industry hadn't been run optimally.

You are right - If Max had have been really aggressive when I first took over that game (early 43) he could have rolled straight through to Tokyo in under 6 months.  As it is, he has me down to very little territory (PI, south east China, Kwantung and Japan), just about all reachable by 4 engined bombers.  I think I only have another couple of months left (it's late Jan 44 now).  My goal was to make June 44, and I doubt we will get there.

Basically, the game is a great big magnifying glass - if you get things right, you get things very right, if not you're basically in deep trouble.

Hi Buddy -yes -as you see -Tabpub missed the bus -several times

August 43
I sent 3 Cvs south to the solomons -they sunk a few Aps and left
Mid August and he attacked moulimien, and in a surprise move -took hanoi with chinese troops - and began to come south via the trails northern thialand
Allied airpower now reigned supreme in Burma
I frantically rushed troops to vietnam, and pulled as many as I could out of the solomons
Heavy fighting continued over luetern.
End of the month, Th island became a size 4 -and it began to pummel my forces at Lae

Sept 43
Mid month -and Lunga was invaded, again failing to take it quickly -but i had nothing to counter attack with
I sent the fleet to singapore -and tried an offensive towards Rahaeng, and dug in at tavoy, abandoning moulimien as he outflanked me
he laned at good enough island and failed at wotje (no 3 failed invasion)
Milne bay was invaded months end

Oct 43
Was the decisive month of the war reallI tried several tokyo express runs at Lunga -again, and again turned away by PT boats.
tabpub was simply creating 4 boat squadrons -and using up to a dozen at a time per hex

On the 18th, his daily attacks at lautern met a huge cloud of zeros

on the 19th, KB struck darwin - and naval task forces attacked it
Again his Pt boats turned me away -the strike sunk over 30 LCTs,, I lost 99 planes to his 184
I tried to attack the Hbr again that night -Tabpub had more PT boats than fleas -and was turned away
Then the disaster -46 val, 157 judy, 132 kate, 30 jill went in -unescorted
I lost the lot
585 to 90 lost
next day i tried yet again -replenishing the CVs
I told tabpub that if i again met 4 boat, after 4 boat pt squadrons again -I would quit -as I did not think it fair that he could just turn me away this way.
As a great player -Tabpub agreed -and we came up with new house rules on Pts
The entire battle line charged in -sank some 50 LCP ect, and got out

The raids next day were heavy -and when KB retired -air groups destroyed, the empires air power destryed - i had lost 670 a/c to his 360
All a/c pools were now empty

Nov 43
he landed at entiwok -i did not challenge
landings at munda
The fleet went home
end of the month -lae invaded

Dec 43
tabpub began the climb up the PNG coast
Torokina taken
lae fell
I get troops out though at finchesen
Tulgia taken
I retire in burma -half the army to Songhilia, the rest into bangkok -where he quickly came racing down to.

Jan 44
Ponape taken
green island fell
And kamikazes were activared -mainly i think by his advance down to bangkok -oh, and they have worked, very, very well for me
Port moresby finally invaded -and fell
Vic point fell
tabpub invaded madang on the PNG coast -and the "lost Imperial grd division" Ghosted there. It lasted a month -i could not supply it, move it, or see it -but it was there

feb 44
rotating troops at luatern, i left it empty -and tabpub grabbed it with a base force and some destroyers

I reacted very violently -sending BBs and KB from japan to the area
At the end of the month -after more savage losses to KB -and a nuking by the yamato, Mushia and co -Lautern was retaken (failed invasion 4)

But this was small fry -rabual fell, Admiralties as well
Kavieng too.

March 44
Siege of bangkok enters its 3rd month -terrible bombing every day
sabang was invaded -it fell after 2 weeks
I began a huge effort -dragging nearly 5 divisions out of siagon and surrounding areas -safely redeployed in the phillipines -marianas
truk fell!

April 44
Kia island taken -tabpub begins a major death star supported attack north from darwin
I retake it! (thats 6)
lautern is retaken after a short fight
he retakes kia
Dilli however will last 2 months
we have a very good cruiser engagement near tenibar island -about equal

I break KB air power -and the pools again by striking truk over 2 days -losing 1000 planes, for only 30 ships hit
I also lose 2cvl, 1cve in this op
the end of the month sees action near babo/bulla
tanaka in th Hiei, with kongo and 2CAs meets the New Jersey and iowa and Cas
Both his BBs are badly hurt -i lose all my ships as they retreat -running into the BBs Arizona/penny

May44
heavy fighting Dilli
Kupang obliterated
He gathers a invasion fleet near Aitape and KB comes down
4cve sunk - heavy air losses again
and a magic moment -as a surface task force gets a mid ocean intercept of a fleeing invasion fleet
Kamis get 5 deck penetrations on the lexington
BB fuso is lost -deliberately sacrificed to draw his air power as KB escapes

babo, bulla, fall
effectively both his thrusts begin to merge as Hollandia and Biak fall at the end of the month

June
The fleet goes home, rebuilds as best it can
And thats where we are up to.

I played very poorly to start -as we learnt.
tabpub has been super cautious -and he very much likes to have all his ducks in a row -I am sure he spends as much time getting his command structures to line up with historical ones as he does plotting turns
The game , despite everything has been great so far -Tabpub a very, very good opponent -and flexible too.
We have had just the one argument over the PT boats -other than that not a single "gamey" dispute.
the secret is of course -its only a game

Hi Herb!
How it comes that he inveded anc conquered Truk????? Why didn't he simply by-passed it? Must have been damned bloody for the yanks that landing and the following fights...
However in Stock the allies get so many 4Es that  from a certain point everything in range of them is doomed!
However seems that this game is giving you real fun!

After a long delay, we get under way again

Now where were we.

OH YES -the totally borked PT boat routine
Today CA atago , CL yahagi, Yura and 5 good DDs attack attu

4 Pt boats
Then 5 pt boats

2 pt boats sunk
4 destroyers sunk
seems that a pt boat can rake a DD limitlessly with 25 mm shells, and not have a shot fired back.
one of the pts i sunk took 104 -yes -104 hits
I took 5 torpedoes in the action as well

Its crap.

AND I got surprise, if you want to ask.
The surviving ships sank 2 AK, and fled

More air action over taipei -and Zuikaka dodged a SS attack -so he knows that the fleet is at sea now.

I was really looking forward to resuming this game - and Ill keep going -but its obvious - jap surface forces -impotent
Jap air forces -impotent (that I can handle -except when its 80 exp pilots going down)
Jap land forces -impotent -only good for static defence
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

I make a bet now - what chance that when my surface fleet engages his invasion fleet - I get defeated by pt boats

Again.

OK, Ive skipped a few days in the war - and Im posting from memory from work

At the moment at home My house is flooded -the kitchen ceiling fell in yesterday, and every time it rains its the bucket brigade.
To say WITP is a high piority would be a bit of a fib

Still - we battle on, its pretty easy to play Japan in 44 -not much area to cover

Basically this is what has happened
Consistant air battles over taipei - but I managed to get a fair bit of fuel out of there
Bangkok is still holding -the main advantage of this battle is the immense air power this place is tying up.
But I think the end is coming, my AV is plummeting there now -still I hope a month or two more.
The ASW /ss war is tragic - I am losing ships all over the place -what ASW assetts I have left are gathered around the last tanker convoy -its battling south to balikapapan.

I have almost got the divisions from soerabaya to the phillipines - I am concentrating in the right place -I think

The fleet is gathered in the heart of the phillipine sea - ready to go -only the decoy task force remains -it nears siapan -needs to refuel and then come down south.

Last turn I spotted a lot of task forces east of wewak -3 to 5 hexes east of the place -so thay are coming north!
The final intelligence that Tabpub is coming - he has started his AAR again, since he only writes stuff when he is winning, or thinks he is going to win a big gain - (nothing wrong with that!) -its a handy clue that something is up

I am sure a huge hammer is coming my way -it will be fun trying to deflect it.
Defeat is inevitable -what I will call a win -no matter what -is if i get some BBs into the transports -if I do that -I will be happy.

A last Ps - should I be complaining about him using 4 engine bombers on naval attack at 7000 feet -? especially army ones -or is this legit in mid 44? -not that it matter that much -ain't many targets left!

How are Okinawa and the other islands near there?

The one really aggressive move that Max made was to bypass the Phillipines (which I had toughened up) and hit Naha. It now has lvl 8 or so Airfields! Once he had that, I couldn't withdraw the troops easily out of the PI - so they are sitting there wasting away.

You have more of a fleet left than I did - but if he wants too, he can certainly land troops there.  Uber cap and PT tf's will keep you out of his way.

Hi mate!

Sorry if turns a bit slow this week -believe it or not - we signed contracts today to start repairs - 12000 bucks worth just for the roof ect so far!
Roofer on roof at this moment!

We might get fixed sooner than later!

Umm -the war.
Okiwana has a full division on it
Iwo Jima -not that much yet -maybe enough

But I know my man.
Tabpub will never make a leap like that -not until he has dealt with my navy -and he has never advanced out of LBA range.
Its not in his make up. As Japan you cannot defend everything -so you defend what you think he will do.
From mid 42 it was obvious that he would concentrate on a Burma front war - so i threw everything into that -its obvious what his other line of advance is now -so we fight him there.

Right now, the next bite of the cherry takes him out from under the medium air umbrella -so we have a chance to hurt him.
Can't wait to get this storm crap behind us -Im a house proud man actually -sitting in the family room listening to the buckets drip, drip, drip is really ticking me off!

A division is not enough - two at least and it also should have some powerful base forces as well.

Max suckered me a bit because he too was generally very cautious - and then pulled this big audacious move right into the heart of the empire.

Okinawa is much, much more important than Iwo.  Bigger airfields, two bases and it effectively divides you from the western half of the empire where you will have very significant assetts that are effectively trapped.  Southern China goes from a safe haven in to a target zone.

If his pilots are experienced and your's are not, he can do this with little risk to his forces.

Actually a very quiet turn
Well, a handful of AKs sunk by ss in the phillipines, and a gazzilion bombs on the usual targets, but not much else - the fleet is ready as it can be at this stage

I look at the forces available -and despair -the last 6 months have been very cruel on my airforces.
Im not tracking production very carefully now -as its basically crippled, hardly anything being produced.
Ah well.

Lets see if we can do it for the gippa one last time.

B-29s have been attempting to night bomb various points over the phillipines all week -none have yet found a target.
I think the 15000 tons of fuel I so carefully, and at such horrid expense gathered at lamon bay will be blasted shortly

Packs of SS surround the phillipines now, and tabpub is mining them as well..........
(or is this the B-29's at work)
heaps of enemy shipping on the PNG coast and near truk.
The armies of Moria are gathering

Only 2 things to say this day
landings at Noemfor, chinese advancing into indo china as fast as their legs can carry them
( so in this universe there will be no vietnam war)

And tabpub says in his mail

The giant is stirring
And i believe him

when this war is over -Im going to count the casualties

How many@#$#@% bloody computer components are going to die before we get to the end!

Router died last night.
Internet connection -KAPUT!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Anyway -Tabpub takes Noemfoer on the northern PNG coast today.
The interesting bit was he used the 2nd marines -why?
makes me wonder if the main thrust is a few weeks away yet -if it is -Im cooked -fleet at sea, using the last of my fuel reserves.

usual chaos of AKs being hunted by ss -its terible to watch
But, as long as they hunt them, the carriers are unmolested.
Fleet fully in position now -now will Tabpub co operate and attack where i think he will?

Phnom Pehn fell today -Indo china all but gone -taken by well executed flanking attacks and paras ultimately -not a sledge hammer as Im sure he planned too.
bangkok still holds -and pins 5000 AV in the siege.
(not going to face the fact of what I lose when it does die)

posting from memory today
Amazing how players have different perspectives on the same event
Today I had my very best Jack pilots on duty at taipei -exp only 55 -tells you the state of the empire
These 48 pilots spent today fighting of waves and waves of P38 fighters, p40's mitchell and some B-29s (and liberators)
End result -about 15 left to fight tomorrow -they knocked down some enemy -but overall, a group painfully built over months -gone
Pool is empty of these too.

yet at Medan, 40 Frank and 60 Tony escorted 60 betties - they met what Tabpub tells me was the Cream of his spitfires -and only 6 fighters got through, the bombers were untouched -yet only hit 2 AKs out of 10 attacked.

My perspective -distaste over the Jacks -tabpubs over the performance of his Spits! (he lost 6)
Funny game WITP.

But today pretty symbollic of my situation, 4 squadrons of fighters gutted today -and no replacements available for them -I am having trouble calculating it -but my impression is that Im building about 3 zekes a day, 2 george a day, and about 3 Franks.
No bombers coming (maybe one or two) and the factories "producing" Tonies, jacks ect seem to have stopped -supply levels in most Japanese cities are under 20000, and only 4 cities have fuel over 2000 in them.

Tabpub secured noemfoer? in png today, and CVs and a lot of LBA hit Kupang -the invasion here is close, and I don't think all those ships at medan were there for a tour iether!

troops approaching siagon -it recieved a regiment today -at AV of 40
Indo china soon to fall totally - but the siege of bangkok continues!

I have all but emptied sumutra of troops -if this succeeds -Ill try to rescue the Malaya army next.

Other than the CVs, I count about 300 fighters all types on map full stop now.

Just 7 jacks left at taipeai now -as tabpub hunts down the last ships there.
Noose closing arounf siagon -about a week left
Kupang invaded -classic Tabpub invasion.

If you are a newbie as Allied (and Im going to apply this advice to myself) and you want to know how to conduct a proper, no hassles invasion -talk to Tabpub.

he keeps landing at places with insufficient troops -initially -but the thing is, in the last string of invasions I have not had a look in.
he is getting ruthless.

The SS war continues - Im trying to shuttle fuel to ports, then AOs from those ports to the fleet -as it sits in its single hex -hiding in the middle of no where

All of PNG is now his too -only by passed wewak and Hollandia remain.

Funny game for me now -turns take 5 minutes to plot - against 1 hr for most games Im in at the moment.

My game with Max is the same.

The replay takes longer than the turn takes to do.  Very occasionally (and becoming more infrequent), I get to set a successful ambush.  Otherwise it's just the grind of a sky full of allied bombers blowing everyhting to pieces.

3rd and 4th,5th of july 1944
de da vue type days

Bombs, bombs, bombs, and a few rockets and bombs over the last 2 days

B-29s hit oil at harbin -ouch - maybe I should not have told him I was really struggling for it now
he swept parishimio again -and culled a lot of fighters -Franks -exp 44 -so not much chop.

training of airgroups is almost finished as well on the map -China is too deadly, and Im running out of fields in Sumutra to train from -but I need fighters first !

tabpub continues to attack at Kupang - I have 2 regiments there, a NLF and a base force -he has landed the 5th Aussie division, and a gazzillion tanks.

Kompong trach fell on the 5th -Siagon soon to go.

The fleet stays on station

Continued air action over taipeai, as his heavies, mediums and a lot of fighters continue to attack the place
the last 8 jack pilots there do really well, 1to 1 losses and kills -but they are overwhelmed today.
Fini - will withdraw them if I can

A single tanker, and 3 AK, escorted heavily try for the run into Palembang today -the dutch ss get the tanker, the AK, and an escort.
We finally, finally kill for certain ss 020, and maybe 019 in revenge.

I just see huge gatherings of ships at Hollandia ect -and ask TABPUB is he ready yet? and remind him that Tokyo is still a long, long way away.

Interestingly he said he has no intention of visiting the place -(no invasion planned in his mind?) and that he intended to fly over it -just once -me thinks KKKKKAAAAAAAAAAAAABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

But based on that little E mail I spend all my political points on understrength LCU units -the home islands will be stripped of troops -and I will use them (if I can ship em) in the inner ring of islands

7/7/44

Little to report -bombs, bombs, bombs. Endless bombing of Kupang -the battle here could take about 3weeks I think

In Indo china I make a stand at Pnom phen -a 30% strength 30th division stops 3 chinese units cold today.

I am gathering the last troops from Soerabaya today -destination Morotio -the thinking is pretty brutal -why now waste troops defending a resource centre when I can no longer get the resources out.
After today , i counted tankers -recieved several this week -shock - 15 tankers on map, plus 9 AOs.

A significant day in the war -B-29s in a night bombing raid from China over Japan -Kyoto is hit by 30 of the buggars -but they caused only alarm, no damage
He pounds Tientsin with the bombers -oil the target
Morotai is also bombed

Kupang the aussies are rapidly gaining the upper hand

9/7/44
The bombing continues -taipai -Tietsin -oil and resources the targets
And the heavies visit Singapore for the first time -the few tonies left there are simply swept away
the enemy enters Camhran Bay

I do manage to pick up the last troops from Java -they are sailing north to Morotai - I intend to crash them ashore regardless
The last oil convoy sails from tarakan -although I have gathered 4 more tankers in japan -AOs mainly -those little ones japan gets at this stage -and they will also head for what oil I can gather

10/7/44
Kupang falls!
Ambionia is invaded -and probably will fall very quick
The tanker convoy beats of its first SS
The troop convoy kills one

A actually saw the fiji brigade in action today -hunting down isolated and lost troops north of Lea -Tabpub really seems intent on turning every hex green

It was a interesting turn today
Tabpub and myself don't really say that much to each other -"back to you" is a long comment some times -but I wrote to him and told him what I thought were his coming plans -Kendari, drive up towards soerabaya, ect, ect.

He actually came back and said that he is roughly following an actual plan that once was on the table for the real war -not plan orange iether(Well i could guess that)
I reckon I was right then a while back -its Mac Aurthurs proposed drive up the PNG coast -and the re invasion of the phillipines.
I hope so -its about all I could fight at all at this stage.

A very bad day for me - the fleet swallowed the last fuel reserves in the tankers today -BINGO fuel for the navy.
Very bitterly I order it home to japan -if it again dodges the SS I will be pleased.

Landings at ambionia continue -very tempted to attack it -but this is not the decisive battle.
The tanker convoy is attacked -2 pg lost today

His CVs hit Singapore, usual bombing everywhere
Cam Bay fell
paras Bien Hoa - we defeat them

I counted my CV strength today -exactly 1000 planes.

I now have to hope that his attack on the phillipines is scheduled for September/October

Another Tabpub E mail

The siege of Bangkokinsgrad must finish!!!!!

he has swung (I think) massive bombing strength to here -the replays went on, and on, and on
CVs hit singapore -shipyard repairs today
B-29s singapore port, Kuala Lumpar resources.
taipei resources

I used some kamis at medan - all shot down
a couple of small bettie, francis raids of 9 plane flights tried here and there -no hits

Some bewilderment here -he is landing at Bulla -more "clean up isolated troops' stuff.
Can only think this is a points thing -or a desire to see all the map green

Pnom phen fell today
The fleet is headed home -my notes say -this is stuffed
The first zeke unit disbanded after the Truk fiasco returns tomorrow - and the pool (thanks to no real tabpub pressure) has 300 zekes in it.

There is little to say today

Bangkok fell

This truly is a disaster - un avoidable -but it spells the true end of the empire.
60000 troops will now be destroyed I suppose -but more terrifying is the number of men and planes and ships this will release for tabpub

I must give him great credit in his perseverance - that was one hell of a siege

Buka cleared of troops

In one sentence - HELP!!!!!!!!!!
