Well this turn went pretty good. It is still dangerous but i think i can pull this off. I've killed about 200 INF and 10 AFV for the loss on my end of 80 INF and 4 AFV's. In the west i'm building forces to try to make a push to remove the allies. Then in Africa we're pushing in towards Iraq! I had to fight to get some engineers down there but it appears i have total sea control. Sometimes the brits will show a 999 Naval unit with 22 battleships and i duck and cover but my fleet is about 950 PP so it would be a slogging match.

Here is my beleaguered armies. We've been fighting to free them for almost a year. They started with 10 tanks and are down to just 2 tanks. But it appears we might have supply now! It's small victories that matter in this large war.

A good airstrike in the balkins has made a difference. Unfortunately my tanks and another few infantry were cut off again.

Not sure I understand what you're saying. Your HQ will only send out what is requested. If your HQ is only being asked for 19000, that's all it will send out. If it's asked for more, and has it available, then perhaps one of the requesting units or sub HQ's far away for them HQ so that reduces supply amount. I think its 100% at 100AP away, and reduced to 0% at 200 AP's away. But not sure, check the manual on supply.

Well thanks to the airpower in AG Center we were able to reduce that tank unit down to 18PP. I wasn't able to push them back though. Along the front it's now a slow slogging fight. This is an uphill battle that is for sure!

I think i am going to throw in the towel on this one. I made several mistakes with this scen most of which was the poor layout of my production and not being ready for the balkins.

I might be able to win but with the US just entering the war i am doing a poor job of defense and i feel its just a matter of time. BUt i will include final screen shots of all positions so you can see my loss in all its glory.

If you guys think i should carry on i will carry on with this war after i get off work tonight.

Here is the western front as it stands.

Nicely done AAR wheat.

AI++ is no joke. Even on a scenario like WAW where the AI is not so good. I'v played it few times in random games and got my clock cleaned.

Except the first release version before the AI improvments. I could beat AI++ then.

I haven't decided if i'm going to try to tough it out. I may try a few more turns but i'm not one for a long drawn out struggle. If i had managed to keep the allied foothold off the continent i think my crappiness in the USSR could have been fixable.

What does AI++ give? I thought it was just increased production? But it might appear the AI is more pattonesque :) It looks like it was taking chances at things i wouldn't expect of an AI player. Normally you can beat an AI becuase you know how it will react.

I was a little impressed to see the west making those landing in western Europe. My experence with the AI when it come to amphibous landings has been disapointing. The AI does not do it very well. If the AI does it at all.

Rick is correct about the supply loss due to distance mesured in action points. This should not be a problem as your forces in Europe don't stray very far from OKW. If you select your HQ and click on the supply button on the bottom right it will bring up this colored map showing your supply range. Green is a 100%. As long as your fronline HQ's stay close to a road leading back to Berlin they should be in the green.
Your units in Africa may be very far from good supply and causing you to lose some supply.
You can link a chain of HQ's to carry supplies a long distance. Or you could have your HQ in Africa draw supplies from a nearby city instead of from OKW if OKW is to far away... HMMM. Or even link your HQ in africa to an HQ in Italy that is linked to OKW. That might work.

The AI++ i think just boosts production, but, I'm ppretty sure this is a dynamic AI, by that I mean it isn't scripted. So it goes through a process of making decisions based on where you are and what resources it has. So if it has more resources, it may act more aggressively. I"m not sure it does this, but looking at the AI log a few times it does go though a few iterations of making choices.

You won't find any shortage of willing players with this game. Usually when someone starts a new thread looking for oppenents the game fills up in a matter of hours. I have about 8 PBEM's going right now.

Ironcrom...i'm impressed too. Normally they don't make such landings in strength but i was very unprepared. I'm goign to give it a few more turns maybe i can make something out of nothing. I might have to give up on pushing far into russia though if i can take 1 or 2 cities i can use the extra production to give me enough supplies to break even. Maybe some of our german wunder weapons will help :)

Well i am formulating a long shot plan. In this map next to kuwait is a long road up into the interior of the USSR. It comes out right next to baku.... I'm thinking if i can get another division or two down to africa, which should be pretty easy i am owning the med right now with the i-ties, i might be able to get a supply bonus and get upto a point where i can put out enough units to compete.

Here is the balkins so far after this turn as you can see i've liberated my beleagured units which is now more a morale victory then anything hardware wise.

The disaster has been discussed in circles around Berlin as the 'Greek Disaster'. In July 1941 the bulk of the Army Group South was ambushed and had to take up a base in the low mountains. The Greek garrison was what proud germans called them at home. On May 17th 1942 they were freed from their captures after 10 months of brutal and nonstop attacks and no supplies air dropped or otherwise.

Local news papers have given an account of the surviving units.

2nd SS Panzer Division
TO&E
Authorized
PP 250
10 SS MEDIUM TANK II
Experience at start of siege 10

TO&E Actual
PP 15
2 SS Medium TANK II
Experience at end of siege 67

41st SS Infantry Division
TO&E Auth
PP 150
50 RIFLE II
50 SS RIFLE II
5 SCOUT II (Not very good scouts it appears!)
10 MACHINE GUNS
10 BAZOOKA
2 FLAK 88
Experience 10

TO&E Actual
PP 9
29 RIFLE II
9 SS RIFLE II
1 SCOUT II
1 MG
2 BAZOOKA
Experience 61

5th Romanian Inf Division
TO&E AUTH
PP 75
50 RIFLE
50 Romanian SS RIFLE II
5 Bazooka
Experience 20

TO&E Actual
PP 2
3 RIFLE
6 Romanian SS RIFLE II
1 Bazooka
Experince 60

The men who were not so lucky were the men of the 12th SS Panzer `Hitler Youth` divison. The division was eliminated providing rear guard action while the units made their way into the mountains to defend themselves.

The 2nd Panzer Divison was wiped out trying to fight from Tirane to free the their comrades.
Estimates from the report put 500 Rifle kills and 20 Armored Car kills on the defendeds of the Greek Pocket.

What really sucks is i've gotten so attached to my virtual men i don't want to give up the fight. My morale has been helped by the fact i am finally able to push into greece. Then i will have 500 PP (@ full strength) to send into the southern russian front. It's not much but the germans guile and tactical brilliance to win.

As you can see i've eliminated that pesky tank unit in the back. The one thing i have going for me is 15 dive bombers and 15 fighters in AG North and another 15 of each in AG Center.

Flank attack here we come!

As you can see i didn't get any attacks off and didn't block them from supply yet but my tanks were so close to hitting that unprotected hq :(.

I reinforced the 2 inf divisions one with a med tank 3 and one with more AT power. I want this pocket to hold so tomorrow i can cut them off completely.
