I am having a new computer made using a Pentium 6600 Quad base. What is a good all round video card for playing Matrix games e.g Napoleon, Steel Panthers etc. also Diablo, and War Craft? One that doesn't break the bank but gives real good results. Also the more ram the better I would guess. Any help would be appreciated.

Matrix games use very little in the way of graphic card power.

Buy this card, hands down, do not even question it. Best bang for your buck without a doubt.
I've had one and it handles any game out today with ease, let alone anything matrix sells.

As for RAM, what OS are you using?
If windows XP then this OCZ kit works fine, I use it as well with my E6600 cpu.

low cost but big performance from these hardwares. Good luck.

Agree with the 8800 GTS 320MB suggestion. If you want to spend a little more, the 8800 GT 512 or ATI 3870 512 are both decent options for perhaps $20-50 more.

If you spend less, you'll get MUCH less card. The GTS is about as low as you'll want to go and still have a card that'll play future titles well.

Sorry, but that can't be generalized that much

Thanks Tony- for your advice. Much appreciated. Also Gem35
My system now turns out to be Vista. The cost of a custom system with XP was too great. Also it sounds like they are trying to make vista work.
The system I am shutting down is dated November 2001. The new one will need to last at least as long. Current games are Napoleon in Italy and For Liberty with occassional runs with Flight Sim. All time favourite game is Steel Panthers World at War Generals Edition.
Thanks again.
Bob
