Agreed.

I will forever remeber him in the cheesier roles that he loved to take:  Omega Man, Soilent Green, and Planet of the Apes!  When you have been Moses and Judah Ben Hur, I guess you get to do just about anything you want...

Replace "buddy" with "tiger". He was talking to his son.

I knew (slightly) a woman who dated Heston in college.  She remembered laughing at his theatrical ambitions and was non-plussed by the later NRA connection.

I think that you've mistaken Midway with Tora, Tora, Tora. The latter I can play over and over without ever tiring of it, but I'm willing to wait until TBS decides to broadcast Midway to watch that one...

Everyone knows Heston played Moses in "The Ten Commmandments," but did you know he really "portrayed" a soldier-airman in WW II.

From his AP obituary:

"In 1943, he (Heston) enlisted in the Army Air Force and served as a radio-gunner in the Aleutians."

Anyone know what aircraft(s) he served on? I'm assuming a bomber, or maybe a PBY?

Whatever it was, the Aleutians had to be rough duty, wx-wise.

I agree, Heston will always be Ben Hur to me. He was also pretty good as Will Penny.
