I guess what I'm really interested in is an even greater undertaking than recreating the current NFL set of rosters.

In response to what garysorrell said, I agree to a certain extent. What I'd really love to see is some of my favorite classic teams of the past, the '92 and '77 Cowboys, '98 Vikings, '89 and '98 49ers, etc. But I understand that making the current 32 teams is tough enough. However, if someone were to devise a utility to make it easier to create large scale projects from scratch, or even post a current 2007 version of a franchise, it would make a nice jumping off point towards creating the same franchise from previous years. Again, we could split the load and help each other out by making our own "favorite" teams. Obviously, I wouldn't mind making the teams I've mentioned, and some others. The biggest obstacle is the time factor. It would be great to have some sort of global player editor. Perhaps someone else's suggestion of just making the "star" player's ratings, and leaving the role-players randomized, would be a good start.

And to 21SEC - I am very interested in your ratings system. I have always been surprised through the years with games like this, whose purpose is to provide realistic football simulation, that they don't include a basic ratings system in the instructions. To me, that is obviously vital. I mean, say I want to make a receiver "really" fast. But what is considered "very fast" in this game's system of ratings? 95? 97? 99? Is 99 something that should be preserved for, say, the fastest guy to ever play? What should be my QB's strength, if I for instance want him to have roughly average range in STR? Things of that nature. What I've taken to, which again is a somewhat time-consuming process, is randomly creating a whole league of players, then sorting them by position, then by rating for each category (str, speed, agi, so on). This at least gives u a basic range from which to determine what your max, min, and mean should be, approximately. 21SEC, if you have something better, or even something similar(I've yet to finish that project), by all means, SHARE.

Thanks in advance.

regen : I am not familiar with the ratings system in Max Football, but I HAVE messed with ratings in Madden, and in FPS football back in the day. It's my experience that it's pretty much trial and error early on. Set up some player ratings, then see how they affect the game. Once you have the basics down (maybe do one team, or two teams, and then have them play as a test), THEN take on the big project of doing a whole league.

It also helps to pick some...I guess you could say 'benchmark' players. for example...let's say you're doing this year's NFL quarterbacks. Top ratings would go to a guy like Peyton Manning. Bottom ratings (for starters) would go to someone like...Josh McCown. then pick a middle guy...somebody like a Jake Delhomme. Now, sort of slot the rest of the guys where-ever they seem to fit.

If anybody has Madden 08 on PS2 or Xbox and can email me a roster file, I may be able to do a league file w rosters for MFB fairly easily.

I'm still hoping to get a file back from someone that will allow me to do rosters for teh NFL like I did for the NCAA.

Have you asked at Football Freaks? I can't wait to see real NFL rosters, but I am not sure where to get them.

I've gone ahead and uploaded my ALPHA NFL rosters to FBmax.com - these are NFL rosters statistically based off of the Madden NFL 07 rosters.  I have moved some players around to the correct teams but more work needs to be done in that area.  The biggest things that need updating are:

- Player Heights, Weights, Birthdates, Colleges, Years Pro - all need to be updated, and this takes a fair amount of time to complete for all 32 teams.

- After this weekend, draftees need to and will be added.

- Last, the 2008 free agency moves and recent retirements need to be accounted for.

Now that I am free to spend a little time working on the rosters again and the latest patch is working great for me, I intend on working towards a BETA version of these for distribution in May (if anyone still has any interest after using the ALPHA rosters, which are very much in need of work).

The rosters DO feature a fairly accurate set of players for each team, and already have basic playbooks assigned.  Unzip the lge_MADNFL.mdb and TEAMS_MADNFL to your MatrixGames\Maximum Football directory.  Then, fire up MaxFB and go to "league play" and Max should automatically detect the new league and make it available for play.

For uniforms and stadiums - download these from FBMax.com for each team.  Our community's very talented stadium and uniform makers have done an amazing job in replicating NFL uniforms and stadiums.

Thanks for releasing the rosters. They are very good, but still need improvement.

I saw this posted on the forum by therhino. Hope it helps.

www.psxsports.com has PS2 Xbox rosters. I think they have Madden 08, so if anyone knows how to convert them that would be great.

I already got the roster file from a console, so thanks anyways. Now it's just a matter of the guy who has figured out how to pull that info and put it into a spreadsheets turn. He sent me a CSV file the other day, but I'm really hoping to get a Excel file very soon. Easier to work with.
