The problem with most people today is that they completely OVERESTIMATE their own intelligence and abilities, and therefore assume everyone else is an idiot.  The problem is most of them, like the OP in the link, are idiots who don't have the capacity to point the finger at themselves because the schools have been teaching that "everyone's special" crap for the past 20 years.  Most people aren't special...not everyone can be Michael Jordan, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, etc....  Sorry about that rant, but I am having a similar problem at work now.

Amazing..................I'm a member there too but have chosen not to reply
This guy must have woke up on the wrong side of the boarder............hahahahahahahaha

Oh yes btw..............I like to play Canadian rules when playing MaxFootball
why.........because its differant to what I'm used too when playing Madden (just realised I use your sliders Redwolf)
not because I dont understand the NFL rules,
I have a very good grasp on NFL rules Football (even coming from the UK)
I have followed the NFL for some 20 years and more and played at amatuer level over here in the UK for a local side as a WR (when I was younger obviously).

Some people eh?

well.. you're not going to please everyone all the time I guess.

two points jump out.

quote:

3. Just a note - the game is developed by the same developer as Front Page Sports Football. It has very much going for it, if you are willing to spend some time with it and give it a chance.

If this was in reference to me, then I need to correct that. I had nothing to do with the development of FBPro. Maximum-Football takes a few areas of inspiration from other titles, but that's about the extent of it.

quote:

the playbook editor is worthless unless you have a MIT degree...

Well.. good and bad here. Where possible, the playbook system and PDS have built to meet the requests of the people that have been buying the game and giving feedback here. The point he makes is valid though. Much of this game has been made very complicated to use in order to give people the ability to do things how they want. Outside of the "I want Madden Graphics" comments, the "It's too complicated' is pretty much the number one piece of feedback I get. That said, I think the MS Paint vs Photoshop analogy holds true still. Yes they can both paint pictures, but Photoshop does 1000% more if you take the time to learn it.

Thanks
David

Corrected, my bad. I could have sworn you were involved with the very first Front Page Sports released by Dynamix in 1993. Guess I am mixing you up with Patrick Cook. Sorry.

Screw that, David. Next time someone tells you it's "too complicated" to edit all the features in Max FB, tell them they are more than welcome to go play Madden and very easily edit none of the features in Madden.

Complicated is having to write detailed programs just to replace one simple graphic because the creators of a game are too cheap to fix it themselves. THAT'S complicated. Yet, a lot of the people who criticize Max FB don't understand that the only reason Madden is as edittable as it is (which isn't much) is because people like me and other prgrammers (all who are much smarter than the original writer of that post) make programs that make it that way. There is not one single thing in Madden that is easily edittable.

Screw that. That guy has no ****ing clue what he's talking about.

Besides... the biggest waste of $40 right now is gas...

I went crazy reading that. The biggest waste of money for me was buying a game called Madden. I had not been to FF in a week and I sure missed something. This guy is crazy, I guess he thought he was buying Madden. If you try you can figure out the PDS. Iwish he would have posted that here where we could help. Maximum Football is THE best game I have ever played.

I, for one, like an in depth, robust PDS system. I actually wish the PDS was more detailed. The PDS in FBPRO99 was pretty good- more in depth than the 98 version. 99, unfortunately, was so badly screwed up. The MaxFB PDS is superior to FBPRO's, in my opinion.

Our friend's comments about Canadian football is funny. If he would get his head out of his rectum, he could see the fantastic versitility of MaxFB. I'm not in to Arena rules football, but I do like to play 12 man football. Think about it, what game allows you to play caveman, American football from the 30's and then switch gears and play wide open CFL games.

Well I am one of those players who don`t rules so what. This has nothing to do do with Daves Game its just something to stir the pot.

Americans are pretty stupid if they can`t understand Canadian football and that its so much better then American.

I am sure if posted the above statement for real I would get a reaction thats all the other poster wants is a reaction.

In my younger days, I would taken the gauntlet thrown down by VCFL Commish about Canadian football being better than American football and gone off on a long argument to "prove" him wrong. But now I'm too old for that and I really don't care about starting an argument. Where I live, I get almost zero exposure to CFL football. Occasionally, there will be a highlight shown on ESPN. I lived in Memphis when the Mad Dogs were there and went to several of their games. The Mad Dogs were a terrible football team and would have been terrible wherever they played and whatever rules they played under. My Mad Dogs experience didn't scar me for life as far as Canadian rules football is concerned, but because I live in the south where NCAA football is king, the CFL has simply not been on my radar screen. But- MaxFb has kindled an interest in Canadian rules football. I have a CFL league setup that I play and I enjoy playing it. American rules football will always my first love just because that's what I played and coached. I don't rate one over the other, they're just different and they each have their own special appeal. My brother-in-law refers to the CFL as that "left handed, funny football".

As for my self , an american who enjoys all football . Fist experience was reading a football mag about cfl in 68 , since then been a fan . Saw a couple gray cups with Warren Moon , loved those . Till i saw 2 live games when i vacationed in toronto , i followed the league in the papers when they posted .Being a long time nfl fan and old season ticket holder of raiders before they went to la la land . I would say i enjoy both cfl and nfl . Some things i`d love to see nfl use would be no fair catch , rouge , and live field goals more then they do now . Hey even wider field be great to . Another thing great about the cfl ,is less ****s like OWENS AND CHAD JOHNSON .

Actually I don`t think Canadian Football is better then American or American is better than Canadian.I do think Canadian Football is better for me.Its actually quite funny I follow Rugby also and the same debate goes on between Union and League.

Enjoy what you enjoy and be open minded to let someone enjoy what they like even if its different then you.

I saw the thread post just minutes after it was posted.  While the guy certainly is entitled to his opinion, I don't agree with him on many points.

If David even thinks about dumbing down the PDS, I am sure there will be riots on this board.

Just an extra note to my post
more an observation really..................

He calls us all dumb canadians (if you read between the lines)
and then compliments us by admitting we must all have a degree in MIT, cos we get the PDS and he dont

So like which is it man.................and who's the dumb one.................limit of one guess per person, hahahahahahaha.

To be fair, he may be looking at some of the older plays in the game which are now being updated.  Those plays have players out of position because of the changes in the depth charts, so he has a valid point on that.

As for the PDS, well, it is much easier to just cut and paste plays and routes like other games do, but the point is that Maximum Football does it better than most other games do.  Why dumb it down?

As I said over on the testers' forum, I'd like to see more depth and complexity to the PDS, not less- but that's just me. One thing, amongst many things that sets MaxFb apart from EA's products is that it's not geared toward the short attention span, teenage, thumb jockeys. I wear bifocals and I have arthritis in my hands and those two things make a hand/eye coordination game out of the question for me. This game is the closest you can get to actual coaching without getting hot and sweaty.

Guy who wrote that is just some stupid dumbass american.
There are  minions of them around.
Jerk must not know the CFL is alot OLDER than the NFL. Most Americans would immediately deny this. A little respect is called for. I have always liked the CFL's game. Its alot of fun to watch. When I was 10 I attended an Argonaut Ottawa game once and I've been hooked ever since.(GO Men of Argos!) Unfortunately in San Diego there is no way i can watch a CFL game cause the NFL has prevented it.
I apologize to the Canadians on this site for the,as usual, stupid Americans.

That moron makes Americans look stupid. He should be glad that David even included the option to play American style football. I wonder if has ever watched a full game AFL or CFL football in his life. The NFL is not the only good football out there and might not even be the best.

Ok boys, enough of this CFL vs NFL stuff. The old guy on the forum might have to turn some of you younguns over his knee and whup you.

Everybody knows that Southeastern Conference football is the best game in town.

I can honestly take or leave the NFL. I watch pro football occasionally- generally when the Colts are on because of Peyton Manning. To me there's too much crap ( Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, Pacman Jones, etc) in the pro game. If I had access to CFL football, I'd probably watch it because MaxFB has kindled an interest in it for me. As I said in an earlier post, my first hand experience with the CFL was watching the Memphis Mad Dogs. Despite how god awful they were, it hasn't poisoned the CFL waters for me. Anyway, it's a moot point for me which is better- the left handed funny football played by the CFL or the mental cases that get millions to play in the NFL- because I'd rather watch a good SEC game any day.

It isn't about Americans or Canadians.  It is really much ado about not much.

The guy wanted Madden graphics and FBPro capability, and he didn't get that.  He came in with expectations that were not met.

Perhaps he will settle down and look at what the game actually does rather than what he wanted it to do.

For this board's sake, please don't get into the American Football vs Canadian Football debate.  Maximum Football can do both, and I enjoy playing both and watching both in the real world, so I don't think we need to go there.

Actual don`t shoot me here i could be wrong I have watched some Alabama games i think there in the SEC (bad influence on me a tider fan I believe there as bad as Rider fans need help)
Anyway I`ve enjoyed the games. What gets me is the fan support and the staduim sizes. If anyone has ever seen a Acadia game the staduim is next to a farming field you can see the tractor going around .

Last Thursday's 'Get Fuzzy' comic that is rather appropriate for the thread.

As long as we're showing our colors- see below.
Neyland stadium in October with the Tennessee River flowing behind the south endzone, the fall colors on the surrounding mountains, 100,000+ fans and Rocky Top blaring- there's no better place to see a college football game.
