Here is my first pass on using a splash screen for the opening form.

This has the same functionality as the previous version - but sure looks better.

You should place 'restore a saved game' text above the browse button methinks.

I'm glad you like them.

Here is a cleaned up version (I did the first one after midnight last night - I wasn't functioning on all cylinders).

2nd and last in series.

When you want to restore a game, you first click on a scenario, which brings up the middle panel: a list of all saved games for that scenario. If you single click on a filename from that panel, the two right panels (in red) are shown, letting you know more details about the saved game.

The example here is from Eric. I ran it about 2 dozen times while working on fixing some bugs in the overrun code.

The informational subscreens are a brilliant idea. I'm giddy with an almost girlish pleasure because this is hardcore attention to detail that bodes so much for the game itself.

Um, I mean -- AWESOME DUDE!

Warspite 1

Love the splash screens - and in particular HMS Repulse above.

I was interested to see some of the other possibles being suggested for inclusion. Will there be an effort to ensure that the subjects finally chosen come from a split of countries in the name of balance?

Obviously the Hood is a must

Uh, I just wanted something pretty on the screen - simply eye candy.

Performing a political balancing act never entered my head. Well, I guess that's not completely true. I was looking for 2 each of air, naval, and land. And I did want the backgrounds split between maps of Europe and the Pacfiic.

But by country? That seems a bit far afield for the purpose of these graphics.

What I meant by country was simply to avoid lots of pictures of one side or one country`s forces to the exclusion of others.

For example what about:

2x Naval - 1) Hood/Repulse/Nelson (CW) 2) Planes from the Shokaku (Japanese)
2x Air - 1) Me 262 (Germany) 2) A Superfortress (US)
2x Land 1) Iwo Jima (US) 2) A T-34? (Soviet Union)

This also divides as 3 x Europe and 3 x Pacific

Sorry France, China and Italy but only room for 6.

Why are you so focused on UFOs ?
These (flying wings) are not really representative of WW2. More, they led to virtualy nothing while others German UFOs led to a whole generation of Russians & US Jets after the war. So why so much enthousiasm for these (the bottom one is really beautifull by the way) ?

There are a hundred forms in the game, there is room for more than 6 kind of pictures like that.

Yes, there were 6 at start, but now that we see how Rob's concept is good with other famous WW2 pictures, I wonder why stop at 6, and why not use more for the background of others forms.

Especially when you see how the forms shown in posts 73 & 74 looked before and how they look a million times better now with the "World in Flames" names on the top and the picture.

You don`t need to convince me - I agree totally!! My only point is that whatever number is actually required, uses a mix of subjects.
