I am 53. My first wargame was Avalon Hills Tactics II.

And, you guys will all be pleased to know that I am a woman!

I am one of the older crowd. My first real wargame (other than Risk) was SPI's Foxbat and Phantom. That thing is still around here in one of my storage containers.

I'll bet you lied. Either you are not a woman or you are not 53. Would find it hard to believe that both are true...

24 here, Alikichi is probably the youngest, considering his join date.

46 here, started playing board games as a teen. My brother was a member of a Wargaming club and he used me as his practice dummy. The first game I ever played was SPI's Arab Israeli wars, course my brother convinced me that playing the arabs meant I could never lose... I had boxes of unopened SPI games that id bought, sadly I discarded them over the years. I do have my Heavy Metal magazine collection thought!

Wasn't my first game as I started wargaming in 1973 but quickly became my favorite. My friend David and myself played it so much we went through three maps.

When did AH first release MIDWAY ?

No, I mean REALLY ??

That's when I started playing wargames, (not counting chess).

Ok, maybe I lied about the woman thing.

It is just that I fancy heels and makeup....

In 1969 I was eleven when my dad and I discovered AH games, purchasing Afrika Korps. I don't have all the games I ever purchased, and haven't played a board wargame in ages. The joy of playing it on the computer is that setup and takedown is so easy...

Pretty sure I had it was closer to 1960 as we still lived at 3057 Central, did not move to "eagletucky" till 1962....
(Dad had a small hobby shop and as a hobby distributor carried very early AH products, but only till the move.)

Somewhere around 1981 and being fed up of playing board games against myself, I thought computer can do that. A computer with a 1Kb memory was purchased. You can call me naive if you like, but lI did learn Basic and found out how a computer worked. Then came my Apple IIe, great machine with good wargames, some with tough AI.

is Terminus your dad??

Haha, no not Terminus. If he's 35, that would have made him 13 when I was born. Plus he's in Denmark and not California.

From what I have heard about the quite relaxed Danish attitude regarding sex and alcohol, this would not be entirely out of the question... Denmark may beat California in this regard! Perhaps Terminus can comment on the 'Speedbandits' or on 'Body Tequila' (and Peder Sass...) .

That was also my first (I started playing in 1971 at the age of 15). During my first marriage, the "extra bedroom" eventually was transformed into a bed-less war room with some massive Pacific War map on the floor and what seemed to be 1000's of counters. Loved the hell out of it, but the wife was not so thrilled. Oddly enough her cats kept gaining access to the closed room, which tended to shorten the campaigns (to say nothing of the marriage!) But yes, computer screens are soooo much simpler!

I don't post here much (but I love WiTP), I started playing in the mid '80s with Third Reich, Squad Leader, and later ASL. My brother and I had enormous fun playing Gary Grigsby's North Atlantic 1986 head to head on an Apple II clone ...

33 here, been playing computer wargames since mid 80s on my C-64. First wargame was SSI's Rebel Charge at Chickamauga.

My son (10 yrs)can appreciate WITP - he realizes how rare and special surface combat is - he always wants me to call him so he can watch if one pops up on the screen.

He plays Axis and Allies with me, but he likes to play Battleground Europe (WWIIOL) more so. So I jump on and tail gun with him sometimes on that game.
