Searched the Manual and this forum pretty good but could not find the info I am looking for. I know on the stock map Lunga builds up to size 4 airfield. On AB's extended map Lunga starts as a dot and probably builds to siza 4 but, is there anyway to tell ahead of time? Moving the map cursor over dot gives info like beach, Value to Allies and Japan, and -202 air or some other numbers. I am looking at expanding and building airfields but have not used AB's map enough to know which dots will expand easily. I know if it is rated as air 1 or 2 it will cost a lot more supplies to expand to size 4 so I am trying to get a heads up before I land and build.

So!, anyone able to make any sense out of 3 digit negative air numbers for dot bases?

I -you- own the dot-beach, you can click on the base to find the build sizes.

If the dot-beach is enemy controlled, you'll have to load a head-to-head version and play as the enemy, to click on the base to find the size.

There are a few "gems in the rough".  Folks expect Lunga.  But dobudura by Buna is dot that builds to a 7(4), and others, but time to put my kids to bed...

Your problem is what faced military planners back in the war. If the military have not surveyed a location then you have no idea how valuable a piece of real estate may be. Settled locations you have a good idea of their potential.

So, putting yourself in their shoes in 1942, your main option in game is to land troops and occupy the location. Or do as Feinder suggests and load a copy of the scenario and view the map as the opposing side. This does have the downside of you being able to see your opponents starting troop dispositions.

As to the -202 number, this is the 'Air Balance' value for that base - a relative value for air strength/superiority.
A negative for you means that your opponent has more air assets able to operate over that location than you. If you look at one of your main bases then you should see positive numbers in the high hundreds or even thousands. Hover the mouse over a main enemy base and the number should be a large negative.

Well thank you both, that was the info I needed. Was starting to think I missed a data chart in the back of the manual with all base capacities listed. Kinda glad there is not one. I will go the survey it myself route, except for dobudura which I will count as a lucky find, hey it happens.

Also glad to know what that 3 digit number means, will come in use full later

IF you want to avoid at potential enemy dispositions, i think there are files of bases sizes, etc. in some of the "stickied sites" - see

and the posts afterwards.

Also, you can look at things like this in the scenario editor, i think.
