Well, Euro 2008 starts today and I suppose our European forumers would be busy for 3 weeks. England will win!

In order to win we would have had to qualify, which we didn't. I suspect it will therefore be of marginal distraction to all but the most die hard fan.

I suspect that German efficiency will win out against Portugal in the final. I would prefer Holland to win though, or Croatia as I'd win £180 if they did

At least with the Germans there, it gives us three teams to support in the group stages - Austria, Croatia and Poland!!

Ayup, twas a serious question.

Soccer? pfft.

Rugby's the game for men.

I'd rather loose at rugby, than win at soccer.

Wasn't it Michel Platini who said once:
If Germany plays good, they'll be the world champion. If they play bad, the'll come into the finale"

When Holland won the EURO 1988 their coach (Rinus Michels) spoke the famous words "football is war!"

Anyway, we are ready to do it again. Don't know if Rinus meant this though.....

You're dutch?

Well, one can't be a german soccer fan without hateing both the teams of the Netherlands and of England. This musn't be questioned like shaving your legs and wearing white socks while riding a race bike

I think Euro 2008 will be better than past because England isn't in it.  Every year you hear they'll win, and every year they seem to disappoint.  I wanted Walcott to get the experience though.  After what Croatia did to them in the qualifiers, I'm pulling for them.  Don't know if they can do it without Eduardo.

And the unexplainable belief that we will win it as we are better than every other team there including world cup winners Whilst I'm a bit miffed that England won't be there, it could be the catalyst that makes them sort themselves out (but probably not). It'll also be an interesting feeling not really minding who wins

Come on Holland! (and not just for the comedy Dutch accents in the poost match interviews )

Reminds me of an excellent joke:

A German boy goes shopping on his birthday. His sister asks him what he would like and he picks up an England shirt - she hits him over the head and tells him to go to talk to his mother. His mother sees the shirt, hits him over the head and tells him to go to see his father. He shows his father the shirt - he gets another whack over the head and is told to wait in the car until the rest of the family have done their shopping.
The family drive home in silence. At home the father sits his son down and says, "Well Hans, what have you learnt today?"
The boy answers "Well, Dad, I've only been an England fan for an hour and I hate you f~@~@~@~ German B~@&*&*s already!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Yeah, we Germans hate the Dutch and English soccer teams even when we don't even care about soccer!

But when the refs realy do punish diving as hard as it is told, then portugal, espc. Ronaldo will have a big problem.

And I didn`t see Switzerland that bad, they only missed their opportunities.

I think Deco is even worse than Ronaldo for that but I agree with you about the diving. And I'll concede the Swiss weren't that bad - but they weren't that good either

The group winners IMO will be:

Group A: Portugal & Czech Republic
Group B: Germany & Croatia
Group C: Italy & Holland (the only group I'm not sure of...)
Group D: Spain & Russia
