This is my first game against a human player who actually knows what he's doing. Until now, I've only practiced against pathetic AIs that don't know what they're doing and only choose their build orders reactively. James Herrell is playing the Sunni Autocracy and goes first.

My first instinct is to prepare for a game that will involve a lot of heavy forest and city fighting. However, I make a grave miscalculation and build some things that should have waited until turn 2 or 3. I don't want to say what that mistake is until later, when it doesn't matter anymore.

I pray to Allah that the Sunni Autocracy will see the light revealed through the Constitutional Society. They call us secular swine for joining the North Atlantean Treaty Organization but they do not understand the most basic things about global politics. I, Patrick Wong, have always been a fierce defender of the separation of Mosque and State. The recent, ahem, readjustment of the political system was necessary in order to maintain the prosperity of our country, and I have no regrets about having Cleric Civ detained for hateful destabilizing speech. I mean, seriously, this guy said that Groschken ought to be wiped off the map - he's obviously a terrorrist and I don't know why the Sunni Autocracy was harboring him for so long.

Luckily for me, Prince Herrell also made a critical mistake. The Constituted Society has a long and glorious history, and has never failed to be somewhat prosperous all throughout. Surely, if the Prince had studied the maps produced by myself, he would have known that his strategy would fail against me, and he must prepare for a longer war than he had anticipated.

James is building up a bulge, but at the same time, I'm slowly creeping up on his flank and digging in.

James is definitely the better player - however, I saw his moves ahead of time and have been able to survive for far longer than I really ought to have. He also made some strange mistakes that I didn't think he would make, giving me several more turns to live.

I made a big miscalculation about when I would need to switch production to offensive units and start pushing him back. I probably should have done it two or three turns ago, before the bulge got big.

I turned the units off.

Apparently I've talked a bit too much, because James has won. He landed paratroopers and blocked my reinforcements, even though I had rear-line units guarding the cities themselves. That essentially nullified any chances for me to mount a counteroffensive.

Key mistakes I made:
- Built supplies on the first turn. This set me a full turn behind in production, since I couldn't run to the cities fast enough.
- Built divebombers. I should have just gone for more fighters, because divebombers are rather underwhelming until you get five of them.
- Underestimated machineguns. They're better than tanks. I never figured this out against the AI because the AI never put them in important places.
- Waited too long to switch production to offensive units, despite the fact that I knew his flanks were initially wide open. I could have been the one laying siege to his cities instead.

James won... *already* ?? Man that was fast!
I usually produce inf. the very first turn, next turn is inf plus some arm. cars. Keep it simple in the beginning. Then check the supply.

Glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read that because there would be coffee all over my monitor
