Is there a way to check the potential range for a bomber mission?

I always use the "recon" button to show me the range of the air group. Note that by transferring the air group closer to your target, you can gain a few hexes at the expense of less available combat rounds.

Not sure if that's the same. Anyway, that is a thing I would like to see implemented in AT2, a visible range for aeroplane missions.
But in general, the closer your planes are  to the front the better.... untill they get overrun by an enemy suprise attack ofcourse, hehe.

An overrun airfield hurts bad, that why I always leave a rifle company in that hex.

don't know if it really helps but it makes me feel better.

It helps. Airfields without these guards are a invitation to attack by ground troops.
And often you find a way to hammer your way to such high value targets.

Recon button should indeed show the effective attack range for planes (10 Ap per hex for level I).
I look at the AP my unit has and then count the hexes.
Or i try to set a air attack for a possible target and browse then thru the possible attackers and look if the
green confirmation button is greyed out or active.

The recon button always shows me a maximum range of 5 hexes, even for units with 100 ap and 100 readiness that can reach up to 10 hexes. Is there something I'm missing or is this a bug?

Do you have mixed air groups? It has never done that to me.

No, single aircraft type divisions. The little orange aircraft icons never reach beyond 5 hexes from the unit.

The range is double that can not you see the shaded hexes? The doodads in the first half show intercept range I think.

That would explain it. Although sometimes the shaded area is the same size as the orange icons area, but isn't intercept range half the attack range?

Intercept range is modified by readiness, and thus can be less than 5 hexes, if readiness is lower than 100%. Also if you move the aircraft they will have a lesser attack radius, but still the same intercept radius. If you move them so far that you have a lower number of Action Points than interception range, then it will show lesser interception range, but during the opponents turn you will have a full intercept range again...

Does that help?

Absolutely! Crystal clear, thank you!
