And the job of the factory ?
Why not simply let the engineers place a "sea" or channel for let´s say 400 EP ?

Why a factory ?
Probably just a special masterfile for these games would do the job, or ?

I like the sea channel idea. Maybe it could be limited to a few or a single hex of sea channel ?

A screenshot of what ?
So far this was just an idea.

In multiplayer random games with many islands players starting inland have a significant disadvantage
over players starting with a coastal Capitol.
Ports would be a good connection to sea, but that doesn´t work yet. Cities still can´t produce ships even "connected" to
ocean by ports.
A sea or channel placed by engineers would be a alternate way, but the more i think about the more i think it´s not that easy
to build a sea by engineers since they have to enter that hex for building. After that it would be water and the engineers
are a land unit. Vic will find a solution i think

Screenshot of the game you are playing.

Hmmm, canal would be the obvious concept. Like in Panama.

Sorry Jeffrey, a screenshot at this time is absolutely impossible.
Game just started and we play with shroud on

But i´ll probably write a AAR for Iron Age II since we have activated screenshots there.
Last week of june i´ll probably start.

Turn3 sent to Player5 - Arditi

I will make the AAR too.
Good news for me, my island is not small and I find good resources.

I started to make Cargo Ships, they'll be finished 4 turns from now.

I will not be a great oversea Empire but maybe I can find one small island.

Turn5 sent to Player5 - Arditi

QUESTION:
HOW DO I USE THE SCREENSHOT OPTION? How does it work?

I am taking screenshots the old way, but can somebody teach me how use the option? to take better shots.

For Iron Age III screenshots are activated.
You find it in the screenshot subfolder in the AT folder.

One screen shows turn start the other turn end.

For battles you could use a screenshot program.
I´m using "SimpleScreenshot". Resident in Memory i can always make screenshot just by hitting F11.
Great for AAr´s.

This turn came late, I would like to know where the turn is all the time.

Turn6 sent to Player5 - Arditi

More desert. I begin to believe that this map is too big, the map will be crowded with units.
Strategic info indicates that I am wining.

There are 175 cities, 25 cities per player!!
I estimated around 437.500 production points per turn!! because there are too many big towns

what do you think about this guys?

This is a lot more than any map even WAW.
My computer WILL HANG on turn 20.

I am seeing the normal amount of "big towns", similar to the 5 others i have played in.

Sometimes you get lucky.  The host cannot really control the map without seeing it, which would be cheating.

Lol, nobody can calculate the production power. Just based on what you found so far ??
It is a RANDOM game. Most of the cities are 500Pt villages. Same VP value like a Capitol....
Don´t think you´ll win because of a city advantage unless you control more than 50% of the cities on the map.
Only this would allow you to fight all other players the same time.
Never forget possible alliances

If you want to track the turns:
"A turn tracking forum for this game is located here: KriegSpiel "

I usually post there if i wait too long for a turn....

Yes it can be done friend, It is quite simple math.
I indeed know the size of YOUR Empire (although not the composition). And I can estimate the composition by watching a few units.

A very accurate estimation can be done by generating 3 maps, and counting.

But for now I have 10% of the map, it is statisticaly a very good "sample".

At the end of turn6, my empire is 35% bigger than seille's.

VP don´t say anything.
And production power you can´t calculate, just estimate.
If you think this is accurate....ok.
I play also other random games and i can say that 10% of the map are never a good sample to calculate what´s behind the remaining 90%.
The cities are simply not spreaded that well.

In addition i don´t care too much about a good or bad start.
So enjoy your "big" empire as long as you can

PS. Sent turn 7 this morning to Grymme

yes, it seem Grymme is a little bussy.

We jumped from 24hs per turn to 6 days delay on turn 7.

8th turn started two days ago.

Yeah, it sucks when people dont take the turnaround requirements seriously.  I just started recruitment for another game so as to increase the odds of being able to play AT on a given day.

I know people have important things to do, work, family and such, but if you know you can't take the turnaround, then you should not start a game...

specially a 7 players game. There are other 6 people involved that indeed have their own duties.

I can forgive a couple of times but please, not again. At this pace the game would never be finished.

I do not take many PBEM's because I fear not be able to acomplish. And it's terrible when you spend days without playing (just waiting).

All in, Daniel and more

Occasional absences are OK provided all players are notified on the discussion boards or e-mail.

I just sent my second turn.

But whats wrong with u guys? I warned in advance that i was going to Ukraine for a week to meet my parents in law for the first time. Before that i generally got my turns in in less than 3 hours. So not taking my turns seriously? This is not a regular thing for me.  Is this seriously a community where you smack a guy for only getting 2 turns in on a week during his 1 week a year abroad wacation where they dont have internet?

I will get back in sunday but reading these forumpost really kills the joy for me. We had a guy whos grandmother died in another game. Should we have hassled him for his turns? Where to draw the line....

In a 8/12hr 7 player turnaround game acceptable play could mean that each player gets his turn after 3 days and has 12 hr to send it out. On sunday i will get my 3d turn in in a 9-10 day period (14-22 june).  That is more or less a turn every third day. I think its great if people get their turn out faster and historically i have also done this. But dont diss a guy for going a little slow on a vacation.

If we were to keep the acceptable speed of 12hr|player then 50 turns could very well take half a year. Hopefully a game could very well last for 50 turns. Is no one going to get a break during half a year?

Also i should say that i am in 7 PBEM games. Some with high turnover, and you guys are the only ones that have complained so far.

Ok, Grymme is back and we go back to the fast speed. He wrote he would be away.
12 hours to answer is the max at average.
For me personally i do not answer when i sleep and when i´m at work.
So for morning and nightshift this means i´m not available for 15 hours in a row.
But average i still do my turns faster than within 12 hours.
And, more important, i keep these games very high priority compared to my other games.
I do these turns ALWAYS first to avoid waiting for the other players.
I hope the other players do the same.
I was already in a multiplayer game involved that i left because some players got the turn and did not play it within a week.
Except for holiday and beeing sick this is not to accept.
Iron Age has been fast enough so far with some slower periods. Still ok for me.
