Status: offline 		George Carlin died of heart failure.

I saw this over at wargamer.com, and thought I should post it here. I had the good luck to see Carlin at Indiana University. He was funny, foul, smart, and a man of many talents. I'll never forget his roles in the Kevin Smith films, which were some of the best in the business. His role in Jersey Girl proved that he was not only versatile, but could be lovable. Some of his comedy transcended laughter into poignant social commentary (peppered with vulgarity).

RIP George.

Status: offline 		We used to listen to his albums, (on vinyl no less) at a friends. He was doing standup back then. Very funny and not so political. The words you can't say on TV. Even better was one skit where he talks abut the neighbors and Doritos and the dog. "Selective Bathing" was a term I learned from that. So funny.

Status: offline 		My fave is his take on the differences between baseball and football. The words are fabulous, but there will never be any substitute for his delivery and facial expressions.

I agree. Carlin summed it up nicely: "I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death." Sad news that he has paid the debt of nature.

Yes, he narrated the famous and popular children's series Thomas the Tank Engine for the third and fourth seasons. Ringo Starr did some of these in England, but many of us in NA grew up listening to Carlin on PBS.

So living proof that an entertainer, just like any of us, is more than their exterior persona.

Status: offline 		I remember watching those shows with my niece one time, and slowly having the realization. "Man, that sounds like...nah, couldn't be...good lord...I think it is Carlin!"
