So game is running now. We are currently at december 1939 turn. Nothing spectacular has happened so far. The germans have taken Poland but not attacked in France yet. They have started bombarding the Maginot line with long range artillery to no effect (so far).

The british empire is slowly gearing up for war.

Hi

I was in Ukraine for a week so the game slowed down for a little while but i think we are at march or april 1940. So The germans might strike in 1-2 turns which means that its quite likely that Japan, China & Soviet will be activated in a couple of turns (hopefully before the end of the week).

A small recap of what has happened (from the wests perspective).

- Germans have invested heavily in long range artillery and bombarded the Maginot line the entire winter. So far this has had a very limited effect and killed around 10-20 INF (four the entire winters bombardment). But the damage is tallying up.
- The germans seemed to invite in the RAF by posting a lot of lonely divebombers in Ruhr. So far the RAF have not attacked. (fear of a trap)
- During the first 2 turns the british navy bombarded Kiel. This has however not been repeated.
- Major reorganizations of the british supply system.
- New british navies in the sea, blockading the german entrences to the atlantic.
- The 8th army is being formed for invading Italy when they will enter.
- It is also reported that the germans have invested in paratrooopers (whatever could they want with those?).

Hi, all....I just took Paris (June 1940) so it looks like the other players will be in any day now.

A recap from the German perspective.

- The invasion of France went pretty much as expected. Lille was taken on the first turn, bringing Italy into the war. The Maginot line was bypassed and Paris taken a couple of months later.
- The allies devoted significant ground forces to the defence of France (although they did not buy the Anti-Blitz card). They lost significant numbers of troops in France... German casualties were fairly light by comparison.
- The British Med fleet staged a surprise strike on the Italian Navy the turn they entered the war. The Itallians suffered heavy losses, but the British got a bloody nose in the exchange too ( 1 Battleship, 3 cruisers and some destroyers I think)
- The British have landed an expeditionary force in Bergen. It looks like Norway will be contested.
- The RAF and French Airforces have yet to make an appearance in the skies. I'm sure that is coming....but so far it has been fun flying uncontested.

First turn sent to Soviet union now.

Some comments to Grumpys recap
- I did not buy the antiblitz card. Basicly because i want Norway in play. Also it feels a little ahistorical. Maybe a weakness, but hey, its a game.
- Im not sure i agree that i devoted significant ground forces to the defence of France. I pretty much kept french producing 20-40% PPs through the game. But i give you that you played very well in France. I made some mistakes, but got some nice heavy equipment out before the fall also. Dunkirk was succesfull.
- RAF made small appearance this turn. I have kept it a threat in being so far.

I sent the turn to Soviet union today. The turn was missent before that. Everybody should have the right emailadresses now though.

There will be a cheat message for the west this time. I started the turn yesterday and let the computer stay on during the night. Woke up this morning and the computer was of. Must have been a black out sometime during the night. So i had to redo the turn. Not much action though.

So, where the game at? Anyone on vacation.

- The liberation of Norway is going painfully slow, but still progressing. New german forces are constantly being landed but being destroyed in the same speed. The iron ore has been recaptured.
- the germans are rapidly overrunning the balkans and greece. Greece is not expected to hold more than max 1-3- turns more.
- the italian navy is being destroyed as soon as it is created.

Hi

I got it for the second time. I have already played this turn once though. I thought i had forwarded the nov 23d 1940 turn to Soviet union already. But i will do it again.

If it has been lying in my room for a week then i apologize. I will forward nov 23d to soviet again.

- The Kreigsmarine reports a major engagement with the Royal Navy off the coast of Norway. Heavy casualties were suffered on both sides and no less then 5 British cruisers were sent to the bottom.

- In Greece elements of the 1st, 5th and Italian 1st Armies are fast approaching Athens. The enemies defensive lines have been breached and several Greek formations were overrun or isolated. British Naval forces have been active in the Med and are conducting bombardments against our advancing forces.

- Elsewhere things remain quiet as the heavy snows of Winter descend on most of Europe.

Turn sent to Japan.

- Ferocious naval battle continues to be waged in the Baltic. More ships from both sides slip beneath the icy waves.

- UK & Free French forces slowly push back our armies in Norway. It looks like they are majorly commited to the Northern campaign and they will eventualy drive us out. However, it has been a slow and costly campaign for them.

- Good news from the sunny Mediterranian, Athens has fallen to our victorious forces! Only a few scattered and shocked Greek forces remain active on the mainland.

BBC reports that it seems likely Britain will suffer a major naval defeat in the north sea. It seems the navy was caught on the way back to refuel. However the campaign to liberate Norway is expected to be finished in 2-3 turns. British industries is working 25/7 to mount the turrets of new battlecruisers to again regain the control of the seas.

No worries say Churchill. Our war industry is more than up to it. We might have to think about some new designs of our warships though.

In other news. A leak in the japanese defence department report that Japan might mount an major offensive against china in 2-3 turns. There is no way to confirm the news though.

Stalin stops the exchange of tankblueprints with the Germans. He cant believe they only produce toytanks.
Where the Russians thought they could sit out this war and rush in when UK and Germany would have fought eachother to death, they are now not so sure anymore. Defense preparations are made.

China news reports that light borderfights with the Japanese increase. More soldiers are called to arms to defend the country.

Reports for the month as follows:

- The Kreigsmarine reports continued fighting with the British Navy in the Baltic. The Italian Navy also reports a minor victory against British forces in the Med. In all 2 British Cruisers and 1 Battleship were destroyed this turn, although at some cost.

- In Norway,  British and French Expeditionary forces are besieging our forces in the city of Oslo. The Commander of the 4th Army has just been promoted to Field Marshal. We will not surrender the city, our fearless leader pronounces.

- In sunny Greece, all that is left are final mop-up operations against Greek stragglers. Our tired forces enjoy a well deserved rest.

- The German Minisitry of Youth, reports an outrage that our Soviet trading partners have renegged on thier agreement to exchange toy patents with the Reich. Our fearless leader proclaims that Stalin must be called to answer for this insult.... after all...it's For the Children.
