I've only played 2 games as USA, but in both games the CSA AI had Lee in the West the entire game (except for the last few turns in my one win where he was brought back to defend Richmond the last few turns where it was too little too late). Is it the general experience of others that the AI sends Lee West? Or is that just the way the AI ball bounces sometimes and he's just as likely to spend the war in the East?

I'd really like the AI to keep Lee in the East most of the time I suppose is what I'm getting at.

I haven't played as the Union yet myself, but if the AI is defending Virginia so well that it had afford to send Lee west, I'd say it's doing a darn good job. I couldn't see putting a similar restriction on a human player.

Oh I agree, don't restrict the human player at all.  Just curious with regards to the AI as I was making progress with McDowell  in the east early before Lee arrived on map, and I was fearing the day when he was going to show up and right the southern ship.  Except he went straight to the West and allowed me to continue advancing in the East for a Jan. '65 win.

Historically, I know Lee was loathe to leave his beloved Virginia although the Confederate government wanted him to assist at Vicksburg and elsewhere. I was kinda surprised there isn't some sort of political penalty rule involved in sending him out west.  But then the game system starts to revolve too much around Lee.

Yeah...have seen the same thing in my two Union games against the AI.  Not only do I have to compensate for my TC's and AC's resigning but also have to watch out for Lee ping-ponging from East to West and back .
