The amazing thing about Italy is that they have [now and on the past] a lot of talent AND therefore could play a creative, offensive football... But that's not their philosophy. And right, this kind of football gave them excellent results.

With no England in I am not sure who to support. Wanted Holland to win but Russia had other ideas. I'm afraid it has to be Spain and Fernando Torres. In some ways it has been more enjoyable without England. Stevie Gerrard gets a rest ready for next season and the news hasn't been all about what Frank Lampard had to eat and how bad we're playing. Best news is that Ronaldo looks like getting his dream move to Real Madrid, would love to be present when he tells Ferguson

Punk Reaper, I take it that you are Liverpool supporter, right? "Stevie Gerrard gets a rest ready for next season". Ronaldo leaving are obviously good news if you want to assault the Premier League (Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool).

I would have prefered to win against Italy in the final.

Spain or Russia will be very pleased to smash Deustchland in the final, be sure.

Yes, born in Anfield, Liverpool so I wasn't given much choice. Now if we can just get a rich owner who would put some money in the player kitty I will be able to get off the prozac.

My original guess was Germany/Dutch final but obviously that's out the window.  Now I think Germany/Spain.  I think Turkey is just too depleted now to continue their Cinderella run.  Spain/Russia is harder to call but it looks like Spain has more talented players even though they didn't exactly shine (at least not til it mattered) during Italy's game.  I hate the Italian style of play even though they have some great individual players.  Should be an interesting next couple of days!

of course, germany ! :)

but spain is better if you ask me but i thought that of portugal too, but we have seen what has happend.

I just wonder why the britos dont have a decent goal keeper. they have such fine players but they lack of any goal keeper that would keep the team in a tournament. what a pity. every 2. Bundesliga keeper here would be a better take then theirs. dont get me wrong but i simply dont understand that.

No the turks weren't better - both teams were bad!

The Turks played what they could. We played like Luschen (someone may translate it, I don`t have the right word, but it isn`t positive).

Germany definitely got away with one there.  I have to admit I didn't think Turkey had a chance but they carried it to them for most of the game.  I know at half possession was like 65/35 in favor of Turkey which is nearly unheard of and I think it was that way through the entire game?  Lehmen was truly awful but luckily for them so was Rustu (who was awful in the game before too so that didn't surprise me).  Frings really helped in the second half, probably the best move made by the Germans all game.  I predicted a German win but it was so bad I might as well eat crow anyway.  Turkey should go home proud though I truly believe Demirel should be shot (figuratively!) for the red card and thus suspension he had as Rustu's performance was probably the deciding factor.

Germany is going to really really have to step it up to beat Russia/Spain.

If we talk about spirit: Turkey should have won. Work rate: Turkey again. Who truly wanted to win the match (attack attack attack)? Turkey again. And I guess almost everyone should agree. But we have 3 - 2: so that's what counts in the end.

Anyway, the amazing thing is that Germany did a horrible match (AND scored 3 goals). They hit the gas during 5 minutes and then stopped 20 minutes... then they put the pedal to the metal again during 10 minutes and stopped again... A minimum work rate, that was obvious.

That's what I think. Ze Germans have progressed this far despite being terrible in every match. We all know what is coming Plus, the Spanish will more than likely collapse under the pressure of potentially (actually meeting their potential and) winning something

That's the difference between history and football
We play horrible but win the matches - but we fought fantastic but lost the wars

Humm, I see a 60% Spain vs a 40% Germany.

Dixie, the collapse or implosion (remember last week about both Holland and Spain?) made sense on quarters. AND another important fact. The Spaniards almost never managed to win the Big Ones (in offical match that is). But on this Euro Cup they got rid of TWO barriers: a) winning a big one (Italy) and b) er... not imploding in quarters So I am starting to suspect that this psychological barrier has disappeared.

And Germany will not win because of the history behind them (ask Croatia) As far as I know there's no Rummenige or Beckenbauer on the pitch... I repeat what I said on my first posts on this thread: Germany (this last decade) is not the Classic Football Machine anymore So from what I have seen on this Euro Cup (and only that), Spain should eat Germany alive. But I still give them a 40%, er, the "history behind" thing, you know

There is no game for the 3rd runner up in the European Championships, for what reason ever.

Ah, the jealous Brits again

Not every game was good, but we are also not Brasil. The matches against Poland and Portugal were very very good tough. You do not need to play brilliant in every match in order to advance (or even qualify ) It is a bout being in the lead when the match ends

But I guess that is just the cliche everybody has about the German team. They can play offensive and great soccer and everybody complains or they play defensive and not attractive and people complain also. Anyway, I do not care if they play the one or other game bad, the main point is we win enough matches

Well, you are confusing something. The very good game against Poland was in the world cup, 2 years ago. In the Euro 2008, our team only won because the Polish played even worse. Watch the interviews after that game again: No one was satisfied, because there was no reason to be satisfied. All said "We need many improvments." Only after the abysmal performance against Austria, people suddenly talked about a "good" or even "very good" game against Poland...

Btw: I like the new flag .
