Hi All!
I was just wondering, what's the difference between the thread and anti thread? (Besides all of the backwards typing) A little history lesson would be great.

The thread should be thought of (in my opion ) as the community gathering place , the place to be with your neighbors, to pass greetings , jokes and general chit chat. The Anti-thread is intended to be more insane. The Thread might be compared to the "Grown-ups table " at social gatherings like holidays , where the Anti-thread is the "kids table". The Thread is the social page , the Anti-thread , the anti-social.

Some regulars of each consider "their" thread to be a religious experince , but in reality , they are different branches of the same family tree, and they really do compliment each other.

The Thread has been around a very long time, is in it's fourth incantation. You need to talk to some of the old timers for more information.

Welcome to both ! Enjoy , and come visit often!

Egads! This is the grown up table?

Relatively speaking, of course...

The T-Bomb was an indiscriminate act of terror that innocent children could have been exposed to. I do not believe you have deserved your bans, but the last 1 week one was obviously nature's way of balancing the books for that terrorist act...

What "bans"? I've only been banned once.

And that one was a 3-fer......

Well, the ribs are in the smoker getting happy. There's an ice-cold, homemade lemonade in my hand. Beer is on ice.

It must be the 4th of July!! A great Independence Day to my fellow colonials, and semi-sincere condolences to the Brits.

Tithe... I thought that suicide bomber picture was rather distasteful...

Of course it was. That's the idea, see?

Look, the kid put this costume together for Hallowe'en. I like the moxie behind it. It says, "Yeah, the world's a horrible place full of horrible people, but there's nothing we can do about it, so let's have a laugh to ease the tension and pain and move on a little happier as a result." Good fer you, kid.

Shakespeare wrote a play once about some Dane who wallowed around in doubt and pain and eventually got croaked off because he couldn't conquer his conscience and act bravely and decisively. I say let's be brave and post photos of disgusting things like body parts and imitation suicide bombers. "Have at you now," Hamlet!

Bad taste? Check this out (actual Internet ad, my embellishments, of course):

Sorry Pas, but that suicide bomber thing is just going to have to be one of those things we'll disagree on.

Okay. How many is that now? I lost track somewhere. I think I changed servers and lost some of my most disagreeable disagreements.

Didn't you get banned for a week recently for swearing or something, as well as for a month for calling a girl a boy (that was when our Martian friend got 6 for questioning the size of the male appendage of Mr Heath and Onime got in trouble too?)

Nope. Only been banned for the Marky business, and that was only for a week. My staying away for six more weeks was my own decision.

When Terminus and Pasternakski disagree they do it in a civil manner. Very nice.

Personally, I thought it unjustified. I don't want to say why, as I would prefer my prolonged absences from these forums to be voluntary.

Every time I come back, I wind up wondering why. Maybe I should throttle back on the sallies at humor in sensitive areas...

NOT!

We didn't used to. Remember when T told me that I should be fed feet first through a wood chipper? I got grumpy over that, until I realized the humor in it.

Well, as Billy Pilgrim's epitaph reads, "Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt."
