Today marks 7 months since the announcement of AE. Now that we have had 7 months to talk about all the new features in AE, I thought it might be fun to talk about what new features everyone is looking forward to in AE.

Feel free to comment on other people's choices as well as posting your own.

So let me start with one of the things I am most looking forward to is having waypoints. This will be a huge aid in getting ships from point A to point B while avoiding bad guys. I know it's not the most glamorous feature, but it will get a lot of use in my games.

What about everyone else.

"Smothering" being a viable tactic. No more nuclear shore bombardments. Intel gathering missions being more survivable. Resupply sufficiently important that attacks on the MSR either force the defender to fall back, fortify his dumps, or hedge-hog.

Differing maintenance for different planes.   Better supply.  More historical.  Better logistical model for base forces and base forces needed for ship loading and unloading.

Far too many to list because over the last seven months I know I've forgotten several big ones.

Port size restrictions on TF refueling, among others. I try to do this on my own now, so it will be nice to have it automatically done for me!

40 mile hexes (more bases!).

Improved ship damage model. 40 mi hexes, making everything even more complicated (it's a good thing). Base statistics that make more sense; supply, aircraft capacity, etc.

Sub patrol areas, and the plethora of new ship classes and types.  Smaller hexes + more bases, and limiting how many torpedoes are available...

Really looking forward to all the new planes/ships and their arts.  But most importantly am looking forward to the modding capabilities!   Especially considering all of the creative genius of this forum!

I think opening the AI with the editor is the big feature that will keep WITP/AE going for decades to come, hopefully the AI will be up to the task!

I don't check the site everyday, but when I do, there is great anticipation that it has been released. The sooner the better, but I don't plan playng too deeply into the grand campaign, because of the inevitable patches. Who knows, maybe there won't be any majot bugs and the minor ones won't invalidate saved games. I just hope the land game is better.

I have lower my expectations of AE to simply a fun, playable, interesting, challenging, and most importantly RELEASED game............... Maybe I have not lowered my expectations at all!

All of the above ,i grabed with glee my copy the day after it was on the net whats that 4-5 years ago... over 2 years ago i sent a wave of 100 Nells (no escort)over to bomb a factory in bombay early in the war(march 42), knowing there was not many fighters and may not get be attacked in the raid (silly me) 30 fighers came up,OK then as the Air battle started i was thinking this is not so good i going to lose 15-25 bombers here......not one got home all shot down too the bomber and not one fighter was lost in there attack. This is all old hat now because we all know air system is flawed....but that flawed me i have not played the WITP since then but ..(before that raid i restarted the campain 5 times after Ver 1 came out with all the changes and even made my own mod and 2 years later)AE gives me hope to play to able to play again... yes i am fussy

You sent a bunch of Nell's (lightly built, flying gas-cans) on an extended-range mission with no cover against opposition..., and you expected to see any of them again? You are truely an optimist!

For me, the top two things are (1) 40 mile hexes, and (2) exposing the AI to the editor, which will (I hope) inspire some good AI mods.

Better ship damage model in combat resolution, so not getting a carrier almost surely sunk after it is hit by a 250kg bomb...

Also the new art and all the ship upgrades are a very welcome addition, I don't have to do it any more manually for all the scenarios :)

Of couzrse everything that is fixed from WitP and every new feature is more than welcome.

Anything improving this great game will be appreciated.

On my personal wishlist would be a higher resolution (crucial with the new hex scale), better handling of air forces (i.e. directly attaching fighters to bombing raids as it was in BoB) and some smaller scenarios maybe.

I'm looking forward to the vastly improved interface and the integration of WitP Utility.

Wait . . . none of those things are happening?  Well, I guess I'll settle for atolls I cant land an overstrength corps on.  THis should change the strategy a lot when island hopping.
