My GB Cav corps is in Brest but even though there are no French troops there, I can't move my fleets in to rescue it. It says on the status screen that the corps is "besieging" the city and isn't "in" it. This is ludicrous.

Also, is it intended that in an ecomomic phase the money lent to a player doesn't show up for 3 months?

Thanks.

Can you post a save of the Cav situation please?

Also, if I recall correctly, loans are done in economic phase.  You can request a loan at anytime, and the next econ phase it should be given to you.  Did you encounter a situation where you asked for money in say, June, and you didn;t receive it until September?

I will post a save later I don't have it handy on this computer.

The loaning money was lent in March and I won't get it until the next economic phase. This is done in the economic phase. Is there some way to lend money some other way?

On the lending money I don't think so.

I have an ideas as to why its occurring the way it is, but want to talk to Marshall first about it.  I'll get it on the bug list.

Loaning money can be done in the diplomacy phase. So you loan money in the June diplomacy phase, at the start of June, and it can arrive in the June economic phase at the end of June. If you loan money in one economic phase it doesn't show up until the next economic phase.

Some other problems with seiging cities and so on which came up in my group which may be caused by the same problem as above:

1. You should be able besiege a city with zero movement. I if you use the auto-forage button can't assualt cities (even if you have 0 movement points left).

2. When you have 0 movement points left you can't move into an empty city you just walked on top of.

3. From an email from our game:
quote:

Now that Ken brought this up, I checked garrisons in recently occupied
cities, and found the same thing. For instance, the garrison in Luxemburg is
Saxon, and the Garrison in Munster is Prussian. Both Luxemburg and Munster
are nominally France controlled until the end of the turn. In both cases,
the garrisons are shown as besieging units rather than in the City.

Now in Bremen, which is now Prussian controlled, the Prussian garrison is
shown as in the City. I guess this means that until you take "control" of
the province your units are somehow not in control of the City?

I will try to upload a save but it wasn't working the other day and I am at work now...

This one is already reported, and should be fixed in 1.03 when it arrives.

So hey Marshall, are you reading this thread?

This is what happene to my Cav corps which was besieging an empty Brest (according to the French player): (for clarification the Cav corps should have been "in the city" which I had told it to do in the reinforcement phase as I couldn't do it for whatever reason in the land phase)

quote:

Ok that was screwed up; so I send a corps to beseige the british cavalry corps in Brest, and I move into the city to beseige. Suddenly I notice I cannot pay for supply! Sure enough I am now IN Brest, besieged by the British Cav! So fortunately the "Undo Move" button works and I do the move over. This time I dont move into the city. It does not ask me if I want to releive the siege however. Nevertheless in the combat phase, a battle is fought, assault vs counterattack (??) and the British cav dies.

I had set the default field combat order for the cav to be "withdraw" and I had set the "in-city" order to be "surrender, no sortie". Any idea why my field combat order got overwritten?

Currently there is a french toop in London which was being beseiged by 2 prussian corps which he had loaned me. Guess what?

quote:

Also from my view it is showing my London Garrison beseiging the two Prussian corps. Moo? I wonder what will happen with that??

Can we not even get trivially basic things right with this game? This is insanity.

Yeah as the French player in that game I have to say that this is going to be death by a thousand cuts. So many little fiddly bugs that fundamentally affect the game.

This kind of thing needs to be fixed!

Why yes I am reading this! Can you send me that game? I will look at this. Sounds funky for sure.
Zip them and email them to me at marshalle@matrixgames.com

I am about to release a 1.03 BETA so maybe I could squeeze this in.

Hi Marshall
as the Austrian player in this game, I noticed that two recently conquored cities (Luxembourg conquored by the Austrian's and Munster conquored by the Prussian's) experienced similar problems, in that the infantry factors dispatched to these cities during the preivous turn, appeared to be in the city (i.e. they were single infantry factors shown to be in the city with the small white squares on the top left corner on the map view), but upon closer inspection, were reported to be "beseiging units" when you zoomed down to the detailed display in the bottam centre of the screen. This is even though the French defending factors were eliminated during the preivous months seige combat.
Possibly not by conincidence, we had a "awaiting battle file" error, for Luxembourg during the next Austrian turn (Austria being the first player to come up in the rotation with garrisons experiencing this error). This makes me think that "beseiging units" error and "awaiting battle file error for seige combats are related. You may wish to investigate this before sending out 1.03 beta.
