BACKGROUND TO THE AAFL
After years of bitter feuding the Elite Independent Schools League (EISL) finally merged with the Adelaide Private Schools League (APSL) to form the Adelaide Alumni Football League (AAFL). However, it came at cost for the APSL teams. With falling attendances and teams facing bankruptcies the APSL was in a no position to influence the terms of the merger.

For many years the stumbling point was the 'Challenge Rule' (Article 231) . Under the 'Challenge Rule' any former EISL team which finishes in first place in their conference and fails to play in the Championship Final is allowed to challenge the conference champion if they are an old ASPL team. The 'challenge game' winner will advance to the Grand Final. Facing extinction the APSL had no choice but to agree to the 'Challenge Rule'.

Another stumbling point was the make-up of the AAFL Board. The APSL finally agreed that 5 out of the 7 board members would come from old EISL. Under Article 48 of the AAFL Constitution at least 5 board members need to support any proposed changes to the constitution. Former EISL teams also have a team list concession (see players sections).

It was against this controversial background that the AAFL was founded in December 2007.

Very nice. Uniforms are slick. Love the school logos. Still deciding which team I want to follow.
