Can someone explain what affects the chance of failure for spy missions?

It seems that the number of security people on the planet is the key and not the percentage. Likewise, the chance of failure is very high for all planets right after a mission and then goes down over time.

How may security people do I need to protect my world?

It would also be nice if you could see what the odds are for somebody spying on you.

I think you've pretty much covered it all.
Also, security on a planet helps preventing being taken over by pods.

I've not been able to test this yet. Sending multiple spies at the same time on the same planet gives them all the same chance of success and failure, even when the first spy comes back and makes the odds of failure raise.
