Here's the situation: I know roughly where an enemy sub is as it's launched torpedoes, but I don't have an actual contact. Because of that I can't send an attack command or intercept commnd where the aircraft will actually hunt the sub automatically. Is the only way to prosecute the sub in this case to do it manually (change course, lay sonobuoys - in otherwords micromanage the operation)?
I was wondering if there is some way to use the formation editor for this - maybe not as accurate as doing it myself but I can better manage my time when things are hot all over.

Sorry, but you're stuck doing it the hard way. The best suggestion I can make if you don't want to go completely manual is to lay out a dense zig-zag course over the likely area and hope to score with the Magnetic Anomaly Detector, which IIRC has a range of about a mile under optimum conditions.

Owl, I think the answer you are looking for is that you launch a patrol instead of an attack, then you can micromanage the aircraft by changing course, pressing . to drop buoys and so on.

Hehe, looks like Warhorse read your query correctly and me wrong, sorry.

Any chances of being able to set up ASW aircraft in their own groups so as to utilize them in their own group rings?

That's been my most wanted feature for awhile.

I'll keep it short, add it to your wishlist at http://harpgamer.com/harpforum/index.php?showforum=35 . That's how I know you want it and I'm going through much planning for big time game structure changes these very weeks and months so now is the time (actually we're getting pretty late into the time...).

Thanks
