When any of my friends and I have even the slightest difference in OOB in online play, the computer immediately notifies us that this has happened, and throws us all off!:( (Without asking if we want to proceed anyways) That is fine by me, BUT...

Mogami and I just played Germany vs France 5/40. I had changed the prices for the Tiger(Early) and the Tiger (Late) around in my OOB editor, because the late model was listed as costing less than the early model. Not even worth mentioning.

Wait, now my point. Mogami did NOT have this change, and we enjoyed a nice battle (or at least I did, he took France!:D). Not until just a few minutes ago did it dawn on me to think about it. He suggested I ask the experts, because we are stumped! How could we do it?

No. But usually if the OOB is different, the computer doesn't care..BYEBYE, one of you is cheating, 'click'. While I didnt have Tigers, my OOB was different. Sorry, should have specified that. It was a good '?' though.

This is very interesting to me. I like to edit my OOB and not to create unrealistic or fantastic "Killer Elite" units or bizarre equipment. I am speaking of creating some infantry units which are not represented in the existing OOB or creating some variations on existing units for custom scenarios. There are some units which I think are not named correctly or some values are a bit high or a bit low in some categories. I modify them after doing research and comparisons with historical data. I mean lets get real here, the designers did a fantastic job of building the database for this game but nobody is perfect and there are some errors and misconceptions in even the most well prepared database.

So I would like to hear more about how this works. Once I get my computer worked out and this later version loaded up I want to play online a bit.

Later,
Zaxilon :D

zaxilon: You don't have to worry about 'killer elites" that is if the problem is with you having too many, for you can even the odds, assuming you're campaigning. Inbetween campaign battles you can bump the enemy experience up or down however much you want.

zaxilon,

Normally we e-mail the OOB's to eachother to avoid being kicked out, and that works fine. This one has me stumped though!:)

In fact the late Tiger is supposed to be cheaper than the Early one. This has to do with armour quality. In late war, Germans had difficulty keeping a quality of armour sufficiently good as supplies and industrial capacity was being stretched.

The early model has "40" in armoured skirts, meaning superior/face hardened armour while the late model has only normal armour.

So there's nothing wrong ith the prices.

Hey Goblin, that is what I figured was the norm. I assumed you would just copy the modified OOB over your existing in the game folder.
I was wondering just how exacting the OOB's in both players folders have to be? I mean if there is any difference at all does the program end the session or something? I have never played SPWAW online. Can someone explain just how close the OOB's have to be?

Thanks,

Zaxilon :D

zaxilon,

Falchion and I have had just one number off in an OOB, and not for a vehicle we were using or could even buy due to the year we played. Bye-Bye. Booted off. See why I posted this? ;)

Svennemir,

Appreciate the input, but game-wise the Late model has superior armor to the Early model, so we decided to balance it a little more (I belive the price difference is only 7 or 10 anyways). I didn't know that about Tigers though...:p

Ya this feature is quite annoying.

I can understand why you put it into the game top cut down on cheating. But it would of been nice if a screen came up warning us abbout different OOB's but you are allowed to choose whether or not to stay in the game.

I for one am glad for this feature. If not, sooo many people would be changing oobs and creating super-units. besides the game is good enough with the official OOB's. they have done research and while it may not be perfect, I trust their judgement more than some layman who just read a book and thinks they are now qualified to change OOB's

FJ and my point involves choice . If FJ and I had tried a game where neither of us were at issue over any changes made, we should be allowed to proceed anyways. The reason there is an OOB editor is so that 'sooo many people' can customize their OOB's according to their individual tastes. Neither of us had cheated or created super units, and the only change I had made was making the better of two tanks MORE expensive. The OOB editor is an intentional feature of the game, and, as such, meant to be used.
