Im on turn 70 of Barbarossa...

Ive taken the whole of the USSR except for 3 units. Im strugling to eliminate them and im wondering if when i do, will the game end? The western forces are not moving at all so im assuming its mainly about russia and germany.

As you can see below my units are in Blue and ive taken the whole of Russia...

Here is the view from the west...

I moved alot of my forces over to the western front to prepare for an allied invasion but im not sure if its part of this scenario or not. There is not much scenario information and im wondering prehaps a bit more detail could be added to the scenarios menu, a briefing detailing objectives and victory conditions etc.

You can attack Great Britain if you want. There is no problem with that, but you have to built bigger fleet. With weak Kriegsmarine warships of Royal Navy will destroy your amphiboius attack ;) I suggest great numer of U-Boots

So, if Great Britain and Allies are in the Barbarossa Scenario, how come they don't attempt an Invasion?

Maybe they are too weak to proceed Invasion? D-Day wasn't simple operation - it needed many divisions, great numer of aircrafts and warships. Your fast win over Russians surprised Allies - in 1944 the Red Army was great war-machine ;)

Howard, While you were beating up on Russia, was there any activity in North Africa?

To make country surrender you have to control all VP cities. Make sure you control three russian cities located on the estern edge of the map: Orsk, Perm and Magnitogorsk. You don''t have to take the city shown in the screenshot (Baku) as it has 0 VP value.

The rules for a surrender of the USSR are completely daft and need to be changed.  Surely the capture of Moscow, Leningrad, Saratov and Stalingrad should be enough to cause a general collapse!   There seems to be myth doing the rounds that the Russians would have fought on even after all their main cities and population centres had collapsed - erm....I don't think so.  This idea of a last stand in the Urals is just BS Soviet propaganda.

And the caucasus has big economic value because of oil, so this should not be ignored.

I actually did get Russia to surrender - but I took every city but one. Not sure what exactly triggered it though. But it did happen in early '43. Allies didn't make any real moves the whole game - I had set up along the El Alamain line in Egypt and in late 43 they did finally do a push with lots of Brits and Americans but all I did was cut em off from supplies and pick em off when they were 1-0's... not much challenge from the AI - it constantly leaves itself vulnerable to getting cut off.

Once I got all my troops out of Russia to defend the coast of France and Italy it seems pointless to continue since it was obvious the Allies had nothing to come at me with (maybe the bomb was their big hope!)

The real thing in cracking cities is to get all your air units attacking to weaken the unit in the city first - use 3 or 4 air armies to take the city defender down a notch or two (and also bombard if you can) - also set up an attack with 2 allies if possible - move your first allied unit away if possible and let the next ally have a crack at the weaken unit (especially if they have more air armies). Lots of planning, but it can work.
