As I have announced before, Warfare HQ will be supporting Uncommon Valor in addition to our other games. UV looks to be a major development for fans of Pacific theater games.

Warfare HQ is seeking 1 potential recruit to join the official Warfare HQ staff and become the Uncommon Valor "Section Leader." Obviously, this person needs to be familiar with UV and dedicated to the system. Volunteers need to have at least a little experience with html or website administrartion. The UV Section Leader will run the ladder, organize and administer tournaments, moderate the UV discussion forum, post new articles, AARs, and downloads.

If you meet the above qualifications and want to volunteer for the position, contact Don "Maddog" Maddox at Warfare HQ. Only serious applicants need apply.

Hello...

We had competitive play in mind, when we designed the PBEM system for Uncommon Valor.

1) The random number seed is saved with the game, so all resolutions for a turn are identical.

2) Player one plots and sends the files to player two. Player two plots and sends the files back to player one. Player one resolves the turn and plots for turn two. This files switching prevents the last plotting player from plotting and resolving until he gets the result he likes.

3) When the turn is resolved, a combat log and VCR type file are created. This way, the non-resolving player will be able to see what happened..

4) Competitive play is assumed for the 20 official scenarios. These cannot be altered by the editor. If a player figures out a way to edit one on these, using a hex editor or something, the program will know it and alert the other player.

5) Saved games cannot be loaded into the editor, at all.

We have tried to make competitive play as secure as possible without making it so secure that it becomes unplayable.

Have Fun...
