Is it possible to change the color text the city names are displayed in?
I've modded the map graphics so plains are an off-white/tan like old AH/SPI board games and the white text doesn't show up on it.

Sounds like we're doing the same idea, i.e. AH/SPI color scheme.  You're father along than myself so I'll hold off for awhile. Please post pics when you have some.  I'd like to know this about the city text colors as well.

I'm not sure how much farther I'm going to go. I'd like to redo the cities etc. but not sure I'll find the time. For now I just did a quick and dirty select by color and flood fill on the normal map, which I liked a little better than the classic, to get the following:

I like that plains color better. Now you need a black color for the cities. Would be nice to be able to change that too.

I'm sorry, I was agreeing that you needed black text for the cities. However the above looks good too!

Right! Just like the thread title says, eh?

Glad you like them though. Not quite happy with the capital/port symbols but hand drew them as I didn't have anything better at hand (obviously I'm no graphic artist ) and until I find something better to cut and paste that's what I'll be using.

I go through phases of using Photoshop 7.0 and I get really good with it. There are so many key combos to remember, but after not using it for months, I'm bad. Up and down. I'm no graphics artist either but I sometimes surprise myself. Nowadays it's knowing the tools well. It also helps to have the talent embedded in your head. <-- That's me and graphics.

Photo editing is much more my forte.
Did manage to improve the port/capitals a little bit. Tough to work at this size and not have it look grainy
