Status: offline 		On the plus side, my remodeling contractor fixed the roof leak over the kitchen and with he figured out how the water is getting into the bedroom.

The bedroom problem cannot be dealt with until the outside wall is dry. The fix involves a tube of stucco chaulk. Until then, I can keep the incoming water contained.

BTW, I still wonder what would happen in similar situations if you guys in USA would start building "proper" houses made of concrete and bricks with thick walls (even internal ones)...

Water can intrude through brick. My problem, however, is a crack in the stucco. I actually agree with you about our houses over here. I would prefer one built like a European house. On of my friends and co-worker calls our houses over here "time release landfill". I agree with him.

Status: offline 		Everything constructed down in the Turks and Caicos is built of concrete.  I guess being on an exposed, hurricane prone island has something to do with that.

That is very interesting news!

Bruce are those new houses much more expensive that "classic" wooden and plaster ones?

Also, are those new houses made like in Europe (i.e. concrete floors and concrete frame plus brick in outside and inside walls)?
