Mod CHS my CV become overloaded. Any hints? Will my A/C squadron return to original size (28 A/C per squadron?). Is there a way to remove the aircraft in reserve?

If you put them ashore they might have resized - though why they resized to 35/36 might be a CHS issue. I've never seen that in stock.

Personally, I don't like the resize feature, but there are others who love it. But if you would transfer your airgroups off the carriers then expect them to resize and live with it - that is what I do. When I prepare for a mission. I grab the available CV, CVL, CVE and place the available airgroups aboard. If you're ok with that, then you will be ok putting your airgroups ashore or on other carriers. But if you want to avoid resize, then never remove your airgroups from their mother carriers.

But they haven´t resized. I always thought people would referre to resize if the daitais/squadrons change the number in parenthesis, in this case (28) - something I have seen too (same as the US carrier based ac resize in mid 42). Then it´s problematic because for example if the number in parenthesis changes then your daitai will always draw ac until this number is met (if automatic replacements is on). This daitai on the screeny drew reserve ac though, which is strange. But this isn´t as severe as the resize when the number in parenthesis changes as those ac in reserve can be killed doing some raids, just get them off the carrier. As soon as you have lost them, everything is fine again.

Yes, they were not resized, the number in parenthesis is 28 A/C per squadron, but it seems that they draw extra A/Cs from the pool (like they were 36 A/C per squadron).
I'll try to have some op losses with air transfers.

I hope that their size will remain the same if I put them off the carrier.

Thanks.

Bye

I have a Kingfisher FP unit on the Denver that has a size of (2), but has 45 planes in reserve.

I also have had problems with Japanese air units on AVs aquiring "extra" planes above and beyond their max capacity.

There is definitely a bug that allows air units to draw planes above their T.O.E.

I also had the Cruiser sea plane problem. Game is stock against AI. AC had 4 as cap but the ship was delivered with 44 on board. All I did was change AC type and it reverted to having the correct AC number of 4.

Maybe changing the plane type may reduce the number back to 28.

The float plane squadron problem is visible within the editor - I think the maximum squadron size is set to 44 rather than 4.

I have also noticed that the AI overloads Chitose and Chiyoda with 40+ aircraft each, which makes the carriers useless.

The first problem I can understand as well hidden but the second does make me a bit skeptical on the level of testing done.

It appears to be the Partial Transfer "feature": when the parent is in location A and the fragment is in location B AND the parent is set to accept replacements then the parent will grow to full size; when the fragment is merged with the parent the resulting unit is oversize.

To fix it (as long as you are playing with PDU in effect) just upgrade to Claude (in this case) and then back to A6M2. The a/c will drop back to 28 although the pilot count will stay at the current value.

Unfortunately this won't solve the problem of the oversize Val and Kate units until you can get their upgrade units into production.

To prevent it hapening, always turn replacements OFF if you end up with a fragment for any reason
